admitted he thought director disliked his performance on his first day filming The Odyssey.

During a recent interview, the 30-year-old actor told the director and his co-stars that he was convinced he was 'totally s***ing the bed' during production of the film.

Sitting down beside Nolan, and , he also said that his first day on the set of the epic was 'probably one of the most daunting experiences of my career.'

It comes after the trailer was released in May, and many fans mercilessly mocked the American accents used by Holland and the rest of the cast.

In their recent, joint interview with Fandango, Holland recalled working on the upcoming film, an Imax adaptation of the legendary epic poem from ancient Greek mythology. 

He reflected on his first scene being 'very emotional' and 'one of the most important scenes,' and admitted that he thought Nolan was disappointed in his performance.

Holland also expressed how 'daunting' it was for him to work with such a massive, ensemble cast as well as the acclaimed director.

'My first day, for me, was probably one of the most daunting experiences of my career, just being a part of a movie of this scale and working with yourself [Nolan], you know, and amazing costars,' he said.

Holland recalled how he initially thought Nolan was calling cut so frequently because of his bad acting, when in actuality, it was the Imax technology; Nolan pictured February 2024

About his first time working with Imax cameras, Holland said: 'I didn't know that it only ran for three minutes.' He added that he was thinking to himself, '"Does he not like what we're doing? Like, what is happening?"'

'And then I remember it was actually [stunt coordinator] George Cottle that was like, "No, no, no, there's only three minutes in the mag." I was like, "Oh, thank god."'

Earlier in their conversation, Holland said there was 'a lot of uncharted waters' before adding: 'I remember it was really challenging. It was a big scene.' 

'We finished the day, [and] you gave me a hug and a pat on the back, and when I left that day, it wasn't until I left the set that I was like, "Oh, I can totally do this. I can swim in these waters."

In the forthcoming epic, Holland plays Telemachus — the prince of Ithaca and the son of Odysseus and Penelope in Greek mythology.

His mythological parents are played by Damon and Hathaway.

Lupita Nyong'o plays dual roles, starring as Helen of Troy - who is known for being the most beautiful woman in the world - as well as her sister Clytemnestra.

Her husband Menelaus, the king of Sparta, is portrayed by Bernthal.

His wife Helen being abducted by the Trojan prince Paris - as well as Menelaus later learning she actually betrayed him, fleeing with Paris by choice - triggers the legendary Trojan War in Greek mythology.

Holland's wife Zendaya also stars in the film, playing the part of the goddess Athena; She is seen in a still with Damon

Robert Pattinson as Antinous, a suitor of Penelope.

Charlize Theron plays Calypso, the nymph who Odysseus encounters on his perilous journey away from his family.

The ensemble cast also includes Benny Safdie, Mia Goth, Travis Scott, Elliot Page and many, many more.

Holland's wife Zendaya also stars in the film, playing the part of the goddess Athena. 

In addition to confirming their marriage in the past year, the couple also filmed a second movie together and reprised their roles in the upcoming Spider-Man: Brand New Day, which will premiere on July 30. 

The Odyssey will hit the theaters on July 17.
