She was joined by Scottish DJ Edith Bowman, 49, who opted for a baby pink T-Shirt style mini dress and curled her blonde locks for a pretty appearance.

The Kitchen offers a glimpse of dystopian London where the gap between rich and poor has been stretched to its limit and where social housing no longer exists.

It tells the story of Izi (Kane Robinson) and Benji (Jedaiah Bannerman) who form a relationship despite the odds stacked against them.

The Kitchen itself is a community that refuses to abandon its home.

The film, shot entirely in London and Paris, is scheduled to appear on Netflix later this year.

At the start of the year it was revealed Michaela was set to take on a lead role for a new filming challenge in partnership with the BFI and BMW.

The actress, filmmaker and director is offering a mentoring role to five shortlisted filmmakers, drawing on her personal experience from both sides of the lens.

And the Chewing Gum star has said she is keen to hear stories that are yet to have been told.

In a video which accompanies the campaign, Michaela said: ‘Growing up, I didn’t see what a lot of young people are seeing now, that black people could direct film or television.

‘The shots that we are doing  – I never saw a vision of a black woman in a director’s chair and just seeing helps you believe.

‘There’s a long way to go and I’m happy to try and facilitate that journey for creatives.’

The Black Panther: Wakanda Forever actress continued: ‘There are queer stories that I have not been told, there are stories about sexual identity that I have not seen told, stories about what it’s like to be an immigrant I have not been told.

‘I am looking forward to the future and looking forward to more of those stories.’
