The country singer, 36, did not specify how long she would be taking a break but said she would be pausing her live performances after wrapping her dreamGIRL Tour at the end of the summer.
She explained that she wanted to take time off after working for 10 years with 'no break.'
Morris, who will be resuming her ongoing tour after attending and 's wedding over the weekend, has 13 more performances left with the last one being a festival headlining performance in late August.
'This is sort of my last tour for a bit,' Morris told Today on Friday morning, just hours before she joined the starry migration to Madison Square Garden for Swift's lavish and star-studded wedding in .
'I want to be able to free think more and be in the studio more, and just figure out what I want to say next,' the Grammy-winning singer-songwriter explained.

The Grammy-winning singer-songwriter said she wanted to no longer be on the road anymore after working for 10 years with 'no break'
'It's been 10 years of touring, so no real time to stop and truly be creative unless I carve out the time.'
About what she's looking forward to at the end of her tour, Morris said: 'I'm excited to be home a little bit more after this run.
'So we'll do this string of shows, knock it out and I'll go home,' she added.

Morris also said she wanted to be home with her son Hayes, six, when he begins kindergarten in a few months

Morris is currently amid her dreamGIRL tour and has 11 more shows in July. She also has two additional performances set for the month of August before she stops touring
As for when she'll go back on tour, Morris said she will continue songwriting and recording music in anticipation of her next voyage.
'I'll just get back in the studio and figure out what the eff happens next,' she said.
