Since he has been arrested and imprisoned for fraud but Katie has stood by him, explaining why she loves him so much in the new podcast.

She told host Josh: 'I know you're not going to think it, but the one I'm in now is the healthiest relationship I've been in. I don't need Lee, I want Lee, and there's a massive difference.

'He's got his own thing going on, he's very intelligent, and he's older, whereas I've always gone for younger.

'I'm comfy, he's not in and out of my pockets. I'm just used to men who end up being like a puppy dog, no conversation, no get up and go, no drive, and in the end they become my sixth child.

Katie married supposed Dubai-based businessman earlier this year after a whirlwind one-week romance. Since he has been arrested and imprisoned for fraud

'Lee's not like that. He sees me as me, not a product, and he doesn't take any s**t, and I love that.'

Katie - who has been married four times and engaged nine times - added of her change in approach to dating: 'Two years ago I did relationship therapy, learning about red flags and healthy relationships because I've always been in toxic, controlling, jealousy, coercive mental abuse, physical abuse, relationships.

'All of them have been like that. So I did relationship therapy and I always needed a man. Nowadays I don't need a man. If I want a man, it's because I want them, not because I need them.'

In the podcast she also reflected on her relationship with pop star Gareth Gates - who agreed to appear in her new docuseries.

The former glamour model was 21 years old and six months pregnant with her son Harvey when she took the pop star's virginity.

Gareth, then 17, denied the relationship but later conceded it was true assuming it was Katie who had sold the story to the press.

She speaks in the documentary about selling the story about their romance but says she now feels bad looking back.

Katie told host Josh: 'That was 25 years ago [Gareth Gates] and he's never done an interview about us, never ever. So when I found out they had [interviewed him for the documentary], I was like, 'what did he say about me?'

'I was so intrigued. I've now found out 25 years later why he ghosted me, and I've waited 25 years to know that. Watching it back, it's actually really sad what happened between us. If I could sit with him now, I'd love to sit with him and talk, because he's an adult now and we were both young, really just kids at the time.

'I would want to say sorry to him. Looking back, I wish I never put the story out there, and I'm sorry it hurt him.'

At the time, Gareth was just 17, and he lost to virginity to Katie – who was 23 – but when the relationship came to light he denied it had happened, upsetting the star.

Katie had expressed her surprise when she learned Gareth agreed to take part in the documentary, though director Paddy Wivell has said it 'took six months back and forth' before he signed on.

In the series, the singer says: 'She was amazing, before I actually met her the only thing I knew of her was glamour model, a girl so you have this image of persona of what they're going to be like and she was completely different.

'She was very soft, I sensed vulnerability – like me – kind, very loving and she was anything but Jordan. I got to know Katie.'

Asked if he was in love with Katie, Gareth described them as 'two smitten teenagers,' adding: 'I certainly felt feelings of love for Katie, I really did, it was the first time I was feeling those things.

'I didn't know what it was, but yes I certainly did love her, to be in love… I think I was too young.'

Gareth shared that he was warned by his management that confirming he dated Katie would be 'career-ending.'

He said: 'That's hard to take because they see Jordan, and I see Katie. They see this glamour model, Page 3 girl, I'm sort of young and innocent and they see it as a big conflict.'

After Katie gave birth to her son Harvey, she and Gareth came face-to-face at an awards ceremony, but once again the singer denied they dated.

Katie said in the documentary she was furious at the denial saying: 'All of a sudden everyone takes his side and I'm branded a liar. I'm like the nutcase of it all.

'I was left in the lurch and it really hurt me, it's pure lies being said about me and I am like ''If you hurt me, I'll get you back by telling the truth, like revenge.''

Katie went on to give a tell-all interview where she revealed details about her romance with Gareth.

Speaking about reading the interview, Gareth added: 'She betrayed me by selling the story. I was quite shocked and hurt, that impacted me hugely.

'Firstly because of the sense of betrayal but it was more than that, I'd denied this to some of the closest people around me and I couldn't really forgive myself for that.'

As Katie was asked by a producer if she 'humiliated' Gareth, she said: 'Yeah I'm sure it did affect him at the time, I was young, I went into all these details.

'That's a moment I wish I never did. Yeah I shouldn't have gone into detail about it but I did. If I could turn back time I wish I never took his virginity for his sake.

'I just sometimes wish he could have saved it for someone that he loved and could have had a relationship with.'
