The Oscar nominee, 47, is being honored in the magazine's 2026 issue among those deemed the 'most influential people' of the year.

She appears under the 'Icons' category, along with the likes of Olympic figure skating champion Alysa Liu and pop star-turned-mogul . 

Hudson brought her 22-year-old son Ryder Robinson, who was dressed in a classic black suit and striped tie, as her plus one. 

She shares Ryder with her ex-husband and The Black Crowes frontman Chris Robinson, 59. 

For the soiree, Hudson modeled a plunging black top with cape-like sleeves and a sexy pencil skirt.

'Kate and I exchanged a quick "did that just happen?" look, and I remember thinking, I want to be friends with her,' Kaling recalled.

Kaling said her friendship with Hudson inspired her to create Running Point, a Netflix sports comedy series that stars Hudson in the leading role. 

'Working together on Running Point, I grew to admire her more. I always knew she was funny, but I learned her timing comes from a place of humility,' she penned.

Kaling went on to call Hudson an 'incredible dramatic actress' with an equally impressive singing voice.

She concluded the writeup by praising her pal for always evolving as well as for her willingness to try new things.

'Kate makes being the coolest girl in the room feel effortless, and then, just to keep it interesting, she keeps changing what that means,' Kaling marveled.

'She doesn't cling to any one version of herself. She keeps moving, keeps trying things, keeps making it look like a very good idea to trust your instincts and go where the fun is.

'And somehow, she makes it all look easy, which is the hardest thing in the world.' 

As part of being a TIME100 honoree, Hudson had a blurb written about her by her close friend and Running Point creator Mindy Kaling for the magazine

Hudson was announced as a TIME100 honoree on April 15.

She reacted to the news via Instagram, calling it 'so exciting' and 'an honor.'

Hudson is currently busy promoting the second season of Running Point, which premiered on Netflix on Thursday, April 23.

The show first hit the streaming platform last year and stars Hudson, Drew Tarver, Scott MacArthur, Brenda Song, Chet Hanks and Justin Theroux. 

The premise is: 'Isla Gordon (Hudson), overlooked her whole life, is appointed President of the LA Waves basketball team, a family business, when her brother enters rehab. She aims to prove she is the right choice despite skepticism,' per IMDB.
