Sean Wilson, 61, Marries Carol in Countryside Bliss

's Sean Wilson is married.

The 61-year-old actor - who played Martin Platt in the soap from 1985 until 2005, and had a brief stint in 2018 - and Carol married in a countryside wedding over the weekend.

In pictures from their nuptials, posted on , Sean sported a dark blue suit and orange waistcoat, while Carol wowed in her white wedding dress.

Another shot showed the happy couple as they kissed outside of a church as she held onto a bouquet filled with sunflowers, white flowers, greenery, and little blue accents.

Sean and Carol - who had dated since 2019 - beamed with joy in a third image as they sat in the back of a cream vintage car.

The cheesemaker captioned his posts: 'Guess what we did this weekend… a July wedding. Brought me my gorgeous Mrs Wilson… We had a gospel choir, and a church full of legendary (real) friends… If we did it all again, it couldn't be better. Xxx. (sic)'

Fans rushed to the upload's comments section to congratulate the couple, as one penned: 'Congratulations Mr + Mrs Wilson. Wishing you both many many years of happiness xx (sic).'

A second supporter typed: 'Aww congratulations. You both look amazing. Hope you had a beautiful day (sic).'

And a third follower wrote: 'Wonderful, happy news.. congratulations (sic).'

In 2024, Sean - who was previously in a relationship with actress Susie Fenwick - was set to return to Coronation Street as Martin Platt and reunite with his on-screen wife Helen Worth for her alter ego Gail Platt's departure from Weatherfield on Christmas Day (25.12.24).

However, the storyline was scrapped due to an unfounded sex assault claim against him, and the plot was reworked, with Gail departing for France with her new husband Jesse Chadwick (John Thomson). 

In January 2025, he was quoted by the Daily Star newspaper's Hot TV column as saying: 'I didn't watch it. I was away in Africa for Christmas.

'I'm trying to get back to normal. It's a case of taking each day at a time.'

Sean hopes that the circumstances surrounding his sudden departure from Coronation Street do not have an adverse effect on his acting career.

He said: 'We are hoping everything that's happened won't affect my career.

'My agent and I are working hard on trying to create a continuing stream of work. We are trying to find our feet again.

'I'm not the one levering any situation. I'm an actor, and if people come and knock on my agent's door, I listen to them.'

After Coronation Street, Sean went on to embark on a cheesemaking career, he launched a cheese business called Artisan Farm in 2009 before going on to write a number of recipe books.

He was a stalwart of the soap from 1983 to 2013, and returned for a brief cameo in 2018, but has otherwise kept a low profile.
