The stand-up comedian, 55, appeared on Nova 96.9's Ricki-Lee & Tim on Thursday morning and promised the hosts he would never repeat the behaviour.

'I'm taking you back to 2022, there's a venue at the Comedy Festival and backstage there is no toilet. To go to the toilet you have to walk through 300 people,' Dave began.

He then explained the unfortunate situation he found himself in which led him to take drastic action. 

'It's a minute before showtime and you have got to go! Soyou see a glass and go in it! You're on your own back there, you're not exposing yourself to anyone,' he said.

'Then you walk to the toilet holding the glass and people get selfies with you holding a glass of your own urine! I washed the glass and someone told me it belonged to another performer at the venue... that's not good!'

He TikTok earlier this week. 

'Then you don’t think about it again for four years until it comes up in a comment in someone's Instagram and all of a sudden you're the worst person in the world,' he said.

'I'm just trying to get through my life, guys. I'll never do it again... I only did it a couple of times!'

It comes after Melbourne-based comedian Melanie Bracewell accused Hughes of performing a gross act at comedy clubs.

Bracewell, 31, took to TikTok on Sunday to claim Hughes urinated in her drinking glass ahead of one of his stand-up comedy performances.

'By the way, the first time we met he peed in one of the glasses I use on stage because he couldn't get out to the bathroom,' she began.

She then claimed the shock incident was not a one-off occasion.

'He does this regularly and wait staff have to clean it up.'
