The shock breakup was confirmed this week by Cody's little sister Alli, who told The Morning Show that her pop star brother and the Olympic swimmer have 'moved on' amicably.
Now, as Australia grieves the demise of its favourite sporting power couple, fans are asking themselves – what went wrong?
According to Woman's Day, an insider claimed their split was due to Cody and Emma's differing lifestyle aspirations.
While Cody, 29, is once again , Emma, 31, is reportedly yearning to settle down and start a family.
'Emma never – she went along with Cody there for a while with endorsement deals with luxury labels but at the end of the day, that was all for Cody,' the source claimed.

The insider claimed that Emma 'secretly longs for' the kind of domestic lifestyle enjoyed by her ex Kyle Chalmers, who has put his bad boy antics aside and welcomed a child with wife Ingeborg Løyning.
Emma and Cody, who began dating in April 2022, reportedly split late last year.
Around that time, the pair began to spark breakup speculation after it appeared as if they were living increasingly separate lives.
They were last pictured together at a public event in December, when Emma attended the launch of a watch collection as an ambassador for Omega.

The pair seemed to subtly address the gossip on Monday when they shared separate Instagram photos from Melrose Place Farmers Market in Los Angeles
Cody posted photos which saw him enjoying a punnet of blueberries as he walked around the market to inspect the stalls.
Emma also uploaded images from the same area, including one which showed similar punnets of blueberries sitting on a table at a fruit and veg stall.
However, they continued to keep fans guessing as they did not tag each other or take photos together, despite apparently being in the same area at the same time.
