Olivia Rodrigo’s actor boyfriend Louis Partridge has broken his silence on their relationship in a new interview on Thursday.
The Enola Holmes star, who has been dating the American pop star, both 22, since October 2023, said they are ‘both in the relationship for the right reason’.
Louis explained how the couple attend some of the ‘maddest’ A-list events but knowing they have each other there is really nice.
Speaking to Esquire UK, the British actor said: ‘I just have no doubt that we’re both in a relationship for the right reason, for example. I’m sure that’s something you have to think about when you reach a certain level of success.
‘It’s nice to know that we can go to things together, and it’s not the maddest thing in the world that you’re sitting opposite who knows what. You’ve got a friend in those times.’
Earlier this year, the couple put on a very loved-up display at Wimbledon, where they were seen passionately kissing in the stands.

Louis has now revealed that he didn’t know the tennis as SW19 was ‘quite so public’ as the couple usually keep their relationship private.
He added: ‘I was not aware that was going to be a thing. I did see a lot of photos from that, it felt quite public. Olivia and I choose, or have been choosing, to not be so public. Obviously, it has been quite a big summer for her with Glastonbury, but there’s a sanctity to being private.’
It comes as Daily Mail revealed that Olivia and Louis may have reached a major milestone in their romance after two years of dating.
The couple were seen last month walking hand-in-hand in Los Angeles but all eyes were on the massive diamond ring on Olivia’s engagement finger.
The pair have remained tight-lipped about whether he’s popped the question.
Jewellery expert, Anya Walsh, estimates Rodrigo’s new stone is ‘approximately 3.5 to 4 carats.’
Olivia and Louis first made headlines as a couple when they were spotted together in his hometown, London, in October 2023.
In a October 2024 interview with Elle magazine, Louis playfully dodged questions about whether Olivia’s song “So American” was about him.

At the time, he laughed and said, ‘Not my song, not my place. So I wouldn’t know.’
He did, however, share that Olivia has influenced his music taste, saying, ‘My girlfriend has been trying to get me into more pop recently. Chappell Roan has been on repeat.’
Describing his own approach to relationships, Louis said he sees himself as a ‘golden retriever’ boyfriend type — easygoing and loyal.
‘I think in past relationships my mind worked at a different speed to the women I’ve known,’ he explained. ‘A bit slower. The way I would characterize it is like a Golden Retriever and a black cat. I can imagine being happy sitting and catching a Frisbee.’
In April 2024, he spoke again on the relationship, this time to British Vogue.
‘I think she’s got it a lot worse than I have,’ he said. ‘I can be a bit of a normal person. She’s got tons and tons of eyes on her case.
‘Dating probably shouldn’t be done in the public eye. There’s enough going on between two people. You don’t need the voices of thousands of others in your head.’
