Steven John Carell is an American actor and comedian who first gained wide recognition as a correspondent on 'The Daily Show' before starring in 'The 40-Year-Old Virgin' (2005). He became a household name playing regional manager Michael Scott on the American adaptation of 'The Office' (2005–2013), a performance widely regarded as one of the great comedic television roles. Carell has since expanded into acclaimed dramatic work, receiving an Academy Award nomination for 'Foxcatcher' (2014). His range across broad comedy and serious drama has made him one of the more versatile performers to emerge from the improv comedy scene.
