Billie Eilish Pirate Baird O'Connell, born December 18, 2001, in Los Angeles, California, is one of the most singular and generationally significant artists to emerge in the 21st century, a singer-songwriter who achieved global superstardom as a teenager and whose aesthetic — oversized clothing, confessional lyrics, and a deliberate rejection of performative glamour typical of pop stardom — spoke directly to a generation navigating anxiety, mental health struggles, and the pressures of social media. Raised in a creative household in Highland Park, Los Angeles, by her actor-musician parents Maggie Baird and Patrick O'Connell, and homeschooled alongside her older brother and primary creative collaborator Finneas O'Connell, Billie began writing and performing from early childhood.
