The TV star, 32, became one of the longest undetected Traitors in the show's history - despite facing several major hiccups along the way.
After quitting his day job as a cyber security consultant, Stephen has made a number of public appearances and his huge fan base is said to have caught the eye of BBC bosses.
'The Strictly casting team have met with Stephen and think he could be a great fit,' a source told The Sun.
'Stephen was hugely popular on and since leaving Ardross Castle he has built up a very big fan base.
'The BBC are always keen to utilise their talent and Stephen is ideal. No final decision has been made yet but if Stephen doesn't make the cut this year, he'll be a key target for the 2027 series — especially if his profile continues to grow as it has.'

The Daily Mail has contacted Stephen for comment. The BBC declined to comment.
Stephen has pursued a career in showbiz following his dramatic victory on the hit series.
He said: 'I'm taking a break from work at the moment, to put my feet up and see what happens.
'If an opportunity presents itself that's more exciting than cyber security, I'll grab it with both hands.'

It comes after Strictly faced backlash this week for signing Love Island star Cach Mercer, who is also a professional dancer.
The influencer and model, 25, was announced as the fifth celebrity to be taking part in this year's series on Thursday.
And while most fans know him for winning last year's Love Island, others had to turn to to find out why he is famous.
Some fans shared their displeasure due to Cach's dance background, echoing the backlash Strictly stars and both received in previous years.
