Albert Square is set to be hit by a typically dramatic twist on Monday’s episode of EastEnders.

The new instalment of the beloved BBC soap will see Sharon Watts (played by Laetitia Dean) doing her best to keep the events of Christmas Day under wraps.

Yet, a very suspicious Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden) is determined to delve deeper as he confronts Sharon about her potential involvement in Keanu’s murder.

Once again, the Six’s big murder secret is at risk of being exposed – not too long after Johnny (Charlie Suff) and local officer Jack Branning (Scott Maslen) discovered Keanu’s death led to Denise Fox’s (Diane Parish) break down.

As Phil heads to No. 43 to speak with Sharon to discuss having access to their son Albie – who originally thought he was Keanu’s son – the conversation swiftly changes to Dean Wicks (Matt Di Angelo), who was framed as the killer.

But Phil has already noticed an unusual text from Linda Carter (Kellie Bright) on her phone, and is fixated on discovering the truth.

As tensions keep rising, Phil is not the only one to suspect Dean is not the real killer.

Last week’s instalment saw Keanu’s mum Karen Taylor (Lorraine Stanley) coming back for Keanu’s funeral, and her suspicions grew after visiting Dean in prison as she starts questioning whether he really did kill her son.

It comes after the recent instalments saw the Mitchell family expanding when a secret family fathered by Billy’s dad moves into town.

Billy’s world will be turned upside down this summer when he discovers that his dad, Stevie, has been hiding a secret family and living a double life.

Stevie’s son Teddy Mitchell will arrive in Walford later this June alongside his sons Harry and Barney in search of his dad.

However, he is set to get more than he bargained for when he comes face to face with Billy, Phil and the rest of the Mitchell clan.

Tensions will run high as Stevie confesses that Teddy is Billy’s half-brother, meaning there’s a whole new branch to the Mitchell family that they knew nothing about.

Actor Roland Manookian, best known for his roles in The Football Factory, RocknRolla and The Rise of the Footsoldier franchise, will take on the role of Teddy.

Elijah Holloway will take on the role of Harry, and Lewis Bridgeman will play his younger brother Barney.

Executive Producer Chris Clenshaw said of the new Mitchells: ‘I’m delighted to welcome Roland, Elijah and Lewis to EastEnders as we bring a new branch of the iconic Mitchell family to the Square.

The arrival of Teddy, Harry and Barney will be a seismic shock for Billy and an unwelcome surprise for Phil. With their arrival sparking more questions than answers, it’s not long before the Mitchells find themselves at war as Teddy and his sons are thrust into the heart of the drama.’

Speaking of joining EastEnders, Roland Manookian said: ‘I’ve been watching EastEnders my whole life, so being part of it is amazing! Coming in as a Mitchell means you’ve got big shoes to fill, but it’s a challenge that I’m happy to accept.

‘It’s a privilege to have the chance to work with the likes of Perry Fenwick, Steve McFadden, and the legendary Alan Ford – what amazing company to keep. Teddy is an enigmatic sort of fella with old-school principles, but he’s tuned into modernity, too. It’s a lovely part to get my teeth into.’

Elijah Holloway added: ‘It’s a massive privilege to join a British institution like EastEnders, and to be playing a Mitchell makes it even more exciting.

‘We’ve been given such a warm welcome, and it’s unbelievable to be turning up to work in Walford every day. Harry has a lot of charm and swagger, but he’s got a bit of a temper, too. He can’t resist trouble, or the ladies, so he’s ready to shake things up in typical Mitchell style!’

Speaking of playing Barney, Lewis Bridgemen said: ‘Joining the EastEnders cast has been very exciting and such a great opportunity, which has been made even better by working with a wonderful cast and crew.

‘Barney is an interesting character to explore because of his more introverted nature compared to the other members of his family, and I’m looking forward to seeing how he grows and develops in Albert Square.’
