A new Evil Dead sequel was just released, but some horror fans seem to be more focused on the genetically-blessed director than the film itself.

Handsome French filmmaker Sébastien Vaniček, 36, has sent social media into a frenzy while promoting Evil Dead Burn over the past two weeks.

Posts gushing over Vaniček's rugged good looks have racked up millions of impressions on platforms like X and Instagram, with some moviegoers saying that they wish the director was in front of the camera instead of behind it.

'The director of the new Evil Dead movie is making this press tour very distracting... why is he so hot, lord!' gushed one fan.

'Director of the new Evil Dead movie, if you read this I'm free on Thursday night and would like to hang out!' joked another.

'He's like if was hot,' wrote a third, while a fourth commented, 'Holy s**t, he's hot!'

The film has divided critics and audiences alike due to its extreme violence and brutality.

Rotten Tomatoes called it 'the nastiest entry in the franchise yet'.

'Vaniček's film fires on all cylinders, delivering a frequently jaw-dropping horror spectacle. There are some shots and sequences that are so expertly directed, it's a shock to find out that this is only Vaniček's second feature,' gushed Collider's Aidan Kelley.

'Evil Dead Burn is an over-the-top, blood-soaked nightmare of a movie. Unfortunately, it doesn't add much else beyond shock value, so fans wanting a bit more meat on the bone will be left disappointed,' wrote Lucy Buglass for Tech Radar.

Evil Dead is just the latest horror franchise that's been brought back for modern audiences.

In October, Peacock will launch the limited series Crystal Lake, based on the Friday the 13th franchise.

There's also a new Carrie miniseries on the way at Amazon Prime Video as well as a Texas Chainsaw Massacre series from Obsession director Curry Barker.

Meanwhile, Paramount is working on a new Nightmare on Elm Street reboot.

It will mark the first Freddy Krueger film since the 2010 A Nightmare on Elm Street remake, which was a hit at the box office but received scathing reviews from critics.

Other upcoming horror remakes, reboots and sequels in the works include Zach Cregger's Resident Evil, The Blair Witch Project, and A Quiet Place Part III.
