Robert Irwin stunned his fans on Tuesday by swooping to the rescue of a very unusual creature who landed in his gym.
The conservationist, 20, shared a video to Instagram capturing him quickly retrieving a stranded microbat which had landed on the ground.
‘I was in the middle of a workout when I saw this little bloke, a microbat. It’s not ideal when they are on the ground,’ Robert began.
‘I like to have a look at them, make sure they are okay, and then put them somewhere up a little bit so they can take flight again.’
Irwin then did a quick inspection on the creature and after finding out it was in good health he placed in on top of a brick on the wall, so it could safely fly away.
‘A lot of people have a fear of bats but they are actually really important animals. If you do find a bat that needs rescuing, never use your bare hands,’ he added.
Many of Robert’s celebrity fans quickly took to the comment section to gush over his incredible bond with animals.
‘Well done. Every life is worth saving,’ wrote his mother Terri Irwin and American actor Luke Eisner quipped: ‘It’s wing day in the gym! He just needed a spot!’

Earlier this month, Robert gave fans a rare insight into his personal life by revealing what his famous family are really like behind closed doors.
The reality star admitted on the Mental As Anyone podcast, he leads an ‘undramatic and boring’ life with his mother Terri, sister Bindi, brother-in-law Chandler Powell and niece Grace Warrior.
‘As public as it all is, I definitely still get to live a very nice and authentic existence,’ he said.

‘In terms of the family dynamic, we’re the most undramatic boring people in the world, which is awesome. What we do is absolutely nuts.’
‘You’re jumping on crocs, you’re saving wildlife, you’re doing this, doing that. But in terms of the Irwin family dynamic, we’re just like vanilla ice cream, we are so boring.’
Robert explained he has a ‘very tight knit family group’ and there is never a sense of ‘drama’.
He added: ‘There’s nothing wrong with having a boring family dynamic. In fact, that’s what you’re shooting for.’
