But now, the 56-year-old star has come to appreciate her 2001 effort, even if all that glittered didn’t turn to gold at the time.
Carey spoke to Variety about plans to celebrate Glitter as it marks its 25-year anniversary.
'Plans for a deluxe and a reissue, or maybe just one, I don’t know,' the We Belong Together singer said. 'We’re getting on top of it. I’m excited about it.'
Carey, who was , thinks remastering some of her old music videos including Don't Stop (Funkin’ 4 Jamaica) would be great to include in the celebration.

'Actually, it really would. No, we were just talking about it today. I really think it could be a moment,' Carey said.
The music legend admitted she once loathed Glitter 'because it was a disastrous flop.'
'I used to hate it. I used to be so like, why did I do that? And then, you know, it became something that I really loved and it just sort of took on its own thing,' Carey said, adding, 'It was just a tough time for me.'

The pop diva - who was nominated for entry into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame for the third time this year - also revealed she's working on new music, telling Variety, 'I hope it will do well and people will like it' (pictured on January 30)
Her last album Here for It All was released in 2025 and was a commercial hit, debuting at No. 1 on four Billboard charts.
