's snub was so last minute that Miquita Oliver had already arrived to babysit her kids.

The songstress, 40, shocked fans when she was a no show at the ceremony in Manchester on Saturday despite being nominated for three awards.

But Lily, who was shockingly snubbed in all three categories, made the decision not to go to the awards just hours before they began.

Speaking on the most recent episode of her Miss Me? podcast with Jordan Davies, Miquita revealed she was already babysitting Lily's daughters Ethel and Marnie, thinking the singer was on her way to Manchester for the ceremony.

She said: 'What was meant to happen was Lily was meant to go, that's why I was babysitting Ethel and Marnie at Mills' and Phoebe came. So it was really nice we were having like a little sleepover under the blankets - and then Lily just f***ing walked in the door.

'I was like "Why aren't you at the BRITs? Why aren't you on your way to Manchester?" But for whatever reason she decided not to go and we all got under the covers and watched it.

'So in a way it's quite good that she didn't win as I think it would have been slightly surreal if she won Album of the Year while we were sitting on the sofa under a blanket.'

The pair went on to discuss how Lily failed to receive any of the three awards she was nominated for - but Miquita insisted that wasn't why she snubbed the ceremony.

'She should have won,' said Rizzle Kicks star Jordan, to which Miquita added: 'I do think she should have Album of the Year. I understand the industry and they wanted to give Olivia Dean that clean sweep, of course, they like to do that.'

Jordan continued: 'I don't understand that. I think it's silly. She should have won Album of the Year, Olivia would have been fine with three awards. She would have been happy with that.'

Miquita said: 'Absolutely, because Olivia is a brilliant new artist, something she won at the for f*** sake.'

She later added: 'With Lily we have to talk about an album reaching everyone.'

Jordan replied: 'It's a cultural reset. If it's a cultural reset you give them the award.

'Also it would have been so cool, Lily would have gone up there, accepted it. It pushes against the idea of the length of time a pop star has. That would have been dope.

'Also she would have been able to do some sh** with Mark for his performance. There would have been loads of cool sh** she could have done. So it annoys me. But also I don't know if that's why Lily didn't go.'

Miquita confirmed: 'I don't think it's that deep. She just didn't go.'
