 begged fans to stay until the very end of his BST performance on Saturday as he joked the crowd 'are going to leave' for the England match.

The Scottish singer, 29, is taking on two headline performances at this year's BST , sponsored by Peroni.

But as England took on Norway in the nail-biting World Cup quarter-finals, Lewis feared that his fans would leave for the pub instead.

Lewis said: 'Thank you for being here! Although I know a lot of you might leave when the England game comes on.'

'Let's not get into it. I'm Scottish, most of you guys are English. Can't we all live in peace and harmony? It's coming home', he joked.

Lewis added: 'But it's f****** special that you're here, I appreciate you being here when you could be anywhere else. 

'Even if you do go to the pub early... I mean, stay please, as many of you stay until the end as possible.'

Lewis was said to have splashed £2,000 on drinks for England fans at the Marlborough pub in Mayfair after the Three Lions beat  on Monday.

He reportedly 'put a generous amount behind the bar' for punters during his drunken all-nighter with , 35.

Lewis and Rita shared videos on their Instagram Stories singing their songs with the crowd after the game.

A partygoer said: 'When the final whistle went and England won, Lewis bought every single punter in the Marlborough a drink.

'Bar staff were instructed to charge all the drinks ordered to him. The tab was almost £2,000 in the end. It was a massive treat and a real lovely gesture, especially from a Scotland fan.'

'Lewis was there from kick-off with his mates and was joined by Rita, who was with her friends, as the night went on. Lewis was a proper legend', they added to The Sun.

The Daily Mail has contacted Lewis' representatives for a comment.

Rita reshared videos on her stories which showed they were just getting going at 2.26am, while singing 'It's coming home.'

The clip ended with Rita showing how hungover she was after celebrating big with her famous pal. 

She said: 'NOTHING beats a London pub game EVER…. It’s coming home!!! The fact I woke up with my hair clips still in and my hair has not moved says it all.'
