The newlywed couple were supposed to reveal all to the presenters about their new relationship live in the studio, but she claimed Lee didn't make his flight for the TV appearance because he was too busy.

But conversation soon turned to other topics, including Katie's mother Amy, 73, who was diagnosed with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) in 2017.

Broadcaster Susanna asked Katie: 'Your mum has been poorly hasn't she?'

Katie replied: 'My mum is poorly.'

Looking down at the camera, she continued: 'Mum, I know you're watching. I know you're unwell, but I just want to say that I love you so much.

'I'm coming to see you tomorrow, so yeah, she's not well at the moment, really not well. I love you so much mum, you'll probably be tearing up watching this.'

According to the NHS website, IPF 'is a condition in which the lungs become scarred and breathing becomes increasingly difficult'.

Katie's mum Amy underwent a lung transplant in 2022.

In December last year, Katie left both her mother and fans crying tears of joy, as she gifted her a life-changing  present granting her 'a bit of freedom and independence'.

The mother-of-five took to her channel to share a new vlog documenting her Christmas celebrations with her family on the Isle of Wight, where Amy resides.

But she warned viewers they 'might need a few tissues' for watching the 'tearjerker' video, as it saw her presenting her mum with a heartfelt gift that left her overcome with emotion amid her health battles.

Katie - who was joined by her children with ex-husband , Princess, 18, and Junior, 20, as well as eldest child Harvey, 23 - gave Amy a motorised scooter to help her get around and give her 'a new lease of life'.

Amy still struggles with her mobility, with it difficult for her to walk places without suffering from breathing issues, causing her to feel 'stuck'.

But Katie proudly revealed the mobility scooter that she'd gotten her to replace her wheelchair and Zimmerframe, declaring: 'Whether you like it or not, you've got this now! New lease of life mother.'

The video saw the reality star showing her mum how to use the scooter, demonstrating how to move forwards and backwards and how to work the brakes and different speeds.

Asked whether she liked the gift, Amy gushed: 'Yes, I do, of course I do!' before becoming overwhelmed by emotion and breaking into tears, leading to her grandchildren Junior and Princess to rush to embrace her.

Trying out the scooter for herself, she delightedly said: 'I'm going to have some fun on this. I think it opens up...' before getting choked up again, as Katie wrapped her in a hug and finished: 'Opens up a new lease of life, a bit of freedom.'

Amy added: 'It's crazy isn't it! I'm just thinking of all the places I can go now. Gives your independence back a bit. That's what I need.

'Where I've been used to it and then I haven't had it. Especially when [husband Paul] is not here, I'm stuck. So it's good. I can't believe it. Oh my God, this is too much for my brain.'

Speaking to the camera, Katie voiced her delight at her mother's reaction, saying: 'Everyone's been happy this Christmas. All the kids. JJ. And the best person, who's more happy, who deserves this, is mother.

'She's got a new lease of life. They are good, happy tears. And I'm happy because she's got more independence to go off and do things.'

Katie appeared on the show by herself after husband Lee Andrews failed to show up for a scheduled live interview

The day before, Katie revealed her husband Lee had cancelled their first live TV interview together

Last year Katie detailed how 'frustrating' Amy's ongoing health challenges were, explaining she was 'still switched on' but unable 'to do the things she used to do'.

Speaking to Amy on her podcast, The Katie Price Show, Katie told fans how her mum has some good days and some bad days.

She said: 'I do feel for you mum, because people have to understand what my mum's gone through. Like her brain is just so active and still switched on. She can't do the things that she used to do, which is frustrating for her.

'Now here's an example, because I am a patient person, but when my mother teases me and say, "Let's go look at the shops in Isle of Wight, shall I take my walker or wheelchair?" and I'm like "No we're taking your wheelchair because I'm not taking an hour."'

Amy responded: 'It's not doing me any good because I'm meant to walk to help myself.'

When Amy was first diagnosed with IPF in 2017, medics told her she had a life expectancy of up to five years, with Katie later saying that she had just 'two weeks left to live' when she finally found a lung donor in 2022.

Giving an update on her health in November 2024, Amy told the Daily Star: 'It's a slow process and it's taken a while. I've had quite a few setbacks but that's to be expected but I'm in the right direction.

'The trouble is when you have a lung transplant it's so easy to sit because you still get a bit breathless but if I don't exercise, I won't move forward.

'I had a single lung transplant but it would cease up so I've got to exercise to get it working.'

Lee, 42, is thought to be banned from leaving  after allegedly forging his ex-girlfriend Dina Taji’s signature to secure a £200,000 loan – something he has strongly denied.

But that did not stop him from agreeing to travel to the UK for a live appearance on GMB with Katie for their first joint interview.

Addressing his absence, host , 55, said: 'This morning, we invited Katie and her new husband Lee back into GMB, the first time we met Lee in person, but he didn't make his flight from Dubai yesterday.'

And Katie, 47, claimed that he failed to board his flight because he is such a busy man.

She clarified: 'Because of his business, he had some things to do last minute.'

Ed Balls started the interview by saying: 'We asked the Foreign Office if Lee had any travel ban in place and they responded saying we supported a British man who was detained in the United Arab Emirates.

'Katie joins us now. Are the Foreign Office right? Did Lee get arrested at the airport?'

She said: 'No, they just said it to me in there. I just said, "Lee apparently a British man has been detained. Can just you confirm it's not you?"

'I obviously know it's not him, so he's done a voicenote back and laughing emojis. He said, "No it's not me" in a voicenote. He's sent me pictures, he's now at the airport, he's on his way.'

She told the presenters: 'He just didn't make the flight [to the UK on Monday].  He's coming over here to spend a few months now. He's been sorting out my Visa, my international driving license. He's flying from Muscat, Oman], but he had things to do and didn't make the flight. All his business stuff is there. He's at the airport now.'

Ed asked Katie if Lee is 'unreliable'.

And she replied: 'Not to me he hasn't been, no. Not at all.

'I want you to ask me everything, because you read everything, so I want you to interrogate me, ask whatever you want to ask, at least it clears it up then.'

Susanna then asked Katie if she trusts Lee.

Katie replied: 'Yes, I know no one believes me. But your face says it all. I've been in Dubai, I only came back on Friday.

'I can't keep going to Dubai, I've got work and kids here.'

Susanna pointed out that it would be expensive to keep travelling, to which Katie replied: 'Well, he pays for it. I can't keep going to Dubai, so he's shifting over here, to spend time over here now.

'I said, "I keep flying to you, you've got to come to England now".'

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays from 6:00am on ITV.
