The comedian, 65, took to Instagram to share a glamorous snap as she relived her horror night for her millions of followers.

She added that she had hoped to reveal the news in a 'TMI' video but had been halted by the sound 'screwing up.'

She also has spoken out about her long string of cosmetic procedures ranging from a breast augmentation, nose job and lip tattoo to a botched LASIK surgery in 2003 that partially blinded one of her eyes and complications from a 1999  that nearly killed her.

She also has struggled with her mental health, especially since a photo of her holding what looked like Trump's hacked-off head triggered heavy pushback starting in 2017.

Trump, tweeting about the image at the time, wrote, 'Kathy Griffin should be ashamed of herself. My children, especially my 11-year-old son, Barron, are having a hard time with this. Sick!'

Griffin came forward on social media in 2023 to say that her cancer fight and years of Trump backlash contributed to extreme post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and caused  that at times had her writhing in bed for eight hours.

She talked about the ordeal in a video posted to her TikTok account.

She said at the time that she managed her anxiety partly by pushing herself to do daily tasks such as feeding her dog or taking walks.

In 2021 Griffin announced that she had stage one lung cancer despite never smoking cigarettes, and would have to have part of her left lung removed.

Raised in Oak Park, a suburb of Chicago, Griffin attended acting school and launched her acting and comedy career in Los Angeles in the late 1970s and early 1980s.

Her supporting role on the Brooke Shields sitcom Suddenly Susan and starring role in Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D-List — winner of two Emmys for Outstanding Reality Show — marked her big breaks on TV.

Griffin dated Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak from 2007-2008 and she was in a four-year relationship with her tour manager until their 'messy' 2012 split.

What is a coloscopy?

A colonoscopy is an exam that detects abnormalities and changes in the large intestine and in the abdomen.

How is it performed?

Patients are either sedated or, in rare cases, given general anesthesia, to dull the amount of pain they feel.

A long, flexible tube is inserted into the rectum. A tiny video camera is attached to the tip so the doctor can view the inside of the colon.

If necessary, the doctor can remove polyps or other types of abnormal tissue, as well as take tissue samples.

A colonoscopy will generally take about 30 to 60 minutes.

How do I prepare the day before a colonoscopy?

Doctors recommend that patients eat low-fiber foods that are easy to digest starting three to four days before the colonoscopy.

The day before the procedure, patients are not allowed to eat anything solid and can only consume clear liquids.

The night before the colonoscopy, patients have to take laxatives to make sure the digestive tract is clear.

When should I get a colonoscopy?

The U.S. Preventive Services Task Force recommends that all adults between ages 45 and 75 get screened for colon cancer.

Patients between ages 75 and 85 are recommended to speak to their doctors about when to get a colonoscopy.

If the colonoscopy doesn't find any signs of cancer, it should be done every 10 years.

Why is it important to get a coloscopy?

Aside from skin cancers, colorectal cancer is the third most common cancer diagnosed in both men and women in the U.S.

An estimated 104,270 new cases of colon cancer and 45,230 new cases of rectal cancer are expected to be diagnosed in 2021.

It is the third leading cause of cancer deaths in men and in women, separately, and the second leading cause of cancer deaths when men and women are combined with 52,980 deaths expected in 2021.
