The 50-year-old TV presenter, who has starred on the show since 2004, has been forced to stop working and slow down as she recovers from the surgery.

In a video posted to Instagram on Monday, Jasmine revealed: 'Normally on a Monday morning, if I'm not working, I would be doing my Zumba class. Today I'm not doing it.

'Reason being, I'm recovering from surgery, I had to have a small surgical procedure - nothing serious - just a little hernia operation.'

According to the NHS website, a hernia is 'where part of an internal organ, such as your bowel, pushes through a gap or weak area in the muscle that keeps your organs in place.'

She continued: 'I've got a couple of weeks off work, and I know I've been a bit quiet on here; that's the reason why.

Jasmine told fans on Instagram: 'I'm currently recovering from a small surgical procedure'

'Although it's a small procedure, any kind of surgery really knocks the wind out of your sails.

'So I will be taking it easy, enjoying the opportunity to slow down a little bit, which doesn't happen very often, but I just wanted to let you guys know.'

The property expert captioned the upload: 'I'm currently recovering from a small surgical procedure.

'Everything went really well, and it's nothing serious, but I'm under strict instructions to rest… which for me, is easier said than done.

'So for now it's comfy clothes, early nights and no Zumba!

'Anyone else find it hard to slow down and sit still?'

Jasmine's fans rushed to the post's comments section to wish her well and one said: 'Glad surgery went well, I have no problem sitting still, that's all I've done this bank holiday weekend.

'A bit of crafting, that's it, back to work tomorrow, wishing you a speedy recovery x.'

Many rushed to the comments section to share the love after her operation

WHAT IS A HERNIA?

A hernia is a common problem that occurs when an internal part of the body pushes though a weakness in the muscle or surrounding tissue wall.

It can develop between your chest and your hips and causes a swelling or a lump in your abdomen or groin and in many cases surgery is required.

You should see a GP if you think you have a hernia.

If you develop the following symptoms you should go to A&E:

  • Sudden, severe pain
  • Being sick
  • Difficulty pooing or passing wind
  • The hernia becomes firm or tender, or cannot be pushed back in
  • See more Daily Mail on Google - save us as a Preferred Source

These symptoms could mean that either:

  • The blood supply to a section of organ or tissue trapped in the hernia has become cut off (strangulation)
  • A piece of bowel has entered the hernia and become blocked (obstruction)

A strangulated hernia and obstructed bowel are medical emergencies and need to be treated as soon as possible.

'Hope the recovery goes smoothly … I had a small procedure last Tues too so am resting also.'

'Thinking of you and get well soon Jasmine enjoy the sunshine xx.'

'A speedy recovery Jasmine.'

'Glad you are ok.'

'Get well soon.'

'Aww take care, and put your feet up.'

Jasmine's surgery came three months after she recalled the 'awful' and 'embarrassing' moment a male nurse realised he had examined the property expert during a smear test.

In a video posted to Instagram in February, she said: 'He looked up and looked at me and went, 'Oh, I've just realised where I recognise you from.'

'So awkward, but anyway, hopefully you won't have a bad experience like that. But do go for your smear test!'

Despite the 'awful' moment, Jasmine stressed the importance of getting a smear test, which checks the cervix and aims to prevent cervical cancer.

She captioned the video post with: 'Prepare for an over-share (you know me!) as I describe one of the most embarrassing moments of my life!

'Smear tests can be awkward. Sometimes hilariously so… Imagine being recognised from TV mid way through it.

'But the important thing is this: cervical screening prevents cancer. It's not pleasant. But at least it's quick. And it could save your life. So if you've been delaying yours, here's your sign to book it.

'And if you've got a story that made you cringe or laugh, share it below.

'The more we talk about it, the less scary it becomes.'
