For much of her career, Amelia Liana has been sharing her dramatic dating stories, relationship grievances and tales of heartbreak with her 2million followers across , and Instagram. In fact, it seemed at times that the 34-year-old had no filter when it came to what she was willing to share about her personal life.

Indeed, Amelia’s videos about first dates, fleeting romances and breakups have driven millions of views and loyal engagement from fans – not to mention significant commercial success.

But now, some viewers are asking whether that persona was ever the full picture – or one carefully designed to keep people watching.

Because on Sunday the social media star dropped a bombshell: she had married in secret.

Not only that, but Amelia hadn’t even revealed to her fans that she was in a relationship and, to throw them off the scent, had been posting about ‘single life’ just days before tying the knot. It’s a far cry from the modus operandi of most influencers and celebrities – who document their relationships, proposals and nuptials in real-time, for their followers’ enjoyment.

On Sunday, Amelia posted a 30-minute announcement video on YouTube titled ‘I GOT MARRIED!!!!’. Yet despite dishing on the details of her ceremony, any information about the identity of her new husband, how they met, the exact date of their wedding – or even how long they have been together – has been kept under wraps.

Amelia Liana has built her career around her dramatic dating stories that have driven millions of views and loyal engagement from fans

The influencer posted a 30-minute announcement video on YouTube titled ‘I GOT MARRIED!!!!’, much to the shock of some viewers

‘I have been keeping this private for a long time,’ she said, explaining that after years of sharing relationships online, she had decided to draw firm boundaries around her private life.

‘I decided my next relationship I would share online would be my husband,’ she said. ‘It’s been hard not to come online and scream and shout it from the rooftops.’

While many stunned followers offered Amelia their best wishes, the reaction was not entirely positive, with some fans feeling blindsided, even betrayed, by the news.

One insider told me: ‘There’s a difference between valuing privacy and keeping a relationship out of the public eye.

‘But in this case, she allegedly spent months, if not years, presenting herself as single and leading followers to believe something that wasn’t true.’

Amelia framed her decision as a move towards creating healthy boundaries with her fans, but some of her followers feel differently.

One viewer commented: ‘Until now, I took your videos at face value and now I can see that everything was planned in advance. I’ll seriously question whether I’ll ever watch another one of them again.’

Another wrote: ‘What was the point in all the long vents about how “behind in life you are” and repeating you’re single over and over... Could have been done differently while maintaining your boundaries.’

Only weeks ago, Amelia was still posting about being single in her thirties, travelling and navigating life independently.

One YouTube video in late March was titled ‘single in my 30s’ in which she said: ‘When there is something serious, you guys will have the update.’

The whole video seemed designed to give the impression that she was not in a relationship.

In another video a few weeks later the influencer alluded to being single again.

She said: ‘Whenever I am married, you will be getting a “dating wrapped” [a rundown] of everyone I have dated.’

Amelia’s influencer friends also appear to have been in on the charade for some time.

Audrey Peters, a close friend and fellow influencer, commented under one of Amelia’s posts about the wedding: ‘Hardest secret I have ever had to keep in my life.’

One viewer commented on her video: ‘What was the point in all the long vents about how “behind in life you are” and repeating you’re single over and over'

Any information regarding the identity of her new husband, how they met, the exact date of their wedding – or even how long they have been together – has been kept under wraps

This secrecy is perhaps not a suprise given that Amelia’s former engagement, one that was heavily documented online at the time, ended in a very public heartbreak.

In 2018, the social media star was engaged to a man we know only as ‘Robert’ and documented what she believed would be the lead-up to her wedding.

But six months after their engagement, the wedding was called off and the pair split.

In the following months Amelia documented her sadness online, sharing her vulnerability at the time with fans.

Even so, one insider told me that Amelia may have made a mistake in deceiving her fans.

They said: ‘Influencers seem obsessed with creating fake personas.

‘They build loyal audiences who support them for years and help them achieve wealth and success, only for those same followers to discover that much of what they’ve been shown was staged or misleading.

‘The fact that she now plans to make wedding content after keeping such a major part of her life hidden feels, to some, like another opportunity to monetise an audience that has already been carefully cultivated.

Amelia has insisted she did not intend to mislead followers, but yesterday admitted to editing videos to remove signs of her relationship, including editing footage in which her engagement ring appeared on camera.

‘I had to keep cutting footage because I would have my ring on,’ she said. ‘I had a video up and then deleted it and re-uploaded it.’

In hindsight, some fans say the clues were there all along.

A ring box had previously appeared in the background of videos, and she was seen wearing a hair clip emblazoned with the word ‘wifey’ in pictures across social media earlier this year.

And in early June, she posted images from Paris dressed entirely in white, fuelling some speculation that a wedding had already taken place or that she was on her hen-do.

So what do we know about the wedding so far?

I’ve been told the dress code for guests was black tie, Amelia held a £20,000 Hermes Celeste Mini Kelly handbag as her ‘something blue’ and her bridal make-up was done by celebrity make-up artist Amir Sdiri.

Sources say guests were asked to sign NDAs and sworn to secrecy until she was ready to reveal her marriage on her own terms. I can also reveal Amelia and her bridal party got ready in the £900-a-night London Dorchester Hotel.

But after years of building a career around sharing her life online, her biggest personal milestone has also reignited a broader question for influencers.

Where is the line between privacy and persona? And when an audience has helped build her brand, how much of the truth should they expect in return?
