Academy Award winner  was once one of Hollywood's biggest actresses.

The native got her start with a small role as a soap opera star in 1982's Tootsie with .

She went on to appear in the 1986 science-fiction horror The Fly with then-beau Jeff Goldblum, before appearing in  and The Accidental Tourist, which earned her an Oscar for Best Supporting Actress.

In May 1991, one of her biggest hit films, Thelma & Louise, was released, and instantly became a box office sensation. 

In the Ridley Scott action-thriller, Davis played Thelma, a naive beauty who has a one-night stand with 's cowboy thief while on the lam with best friend Louise, played by .

Davis earned a Best Actress Oscar nomination for her role.

The movie will celebrate its 35th anniversary on May 24, and will be marked by high-profile tributes at the , a world-premiere musical adaptation, and a variety of special screenings.

The new sci-fi series is produced by Stranger Things creators The Duffer Brothers, and co-stars Bill Pullman and Alfred Molina.

A logline for the show reads: "In a seemingly picturesque retirement community, a group of unlikely heroes must band together to stop an otherworldly threat from stealing the one thing they don't have… time."

During her CBS Mornings Appearance, Davis dazzled in a red dress as she discussed her forthcoming show, which debuts on the streamer May 21. 

The Hollywood legend looked happy, refreshed and relaxed as she also talked about why she's drawn to projects that feature supernatural elements.
