It was the Disney drama that captivated fans and more than two decades later, the cast of Even Stevens have been plagued by scandals.

Child stars including Shia LaBeouf, Christy Carlson Romano and Steven Anthony Lawrence made a lasting impact on fans with their witty sense of humour. 

It has been 26 years since the beloved series launched them into the spotlight when the show premiered in 2000. 

And while some of the stars went on to have a remarkable career - a number of actors have been blighted by health woes and had many brushes with the law.

This week, the Daily Mail exclusively revealed photos of troubled star Shia, who played Louis Stevens, leaving jail after being arrested for allegedly assaulting two men in a bar brawl.

He is now facing two charges of simple battery, a spokesman for the New Orleans Police Department revealed.

Meanwhile, Disney Channel star Christy Carlson Romano, aka Ren Stevens, revealed on Tuesday that she has tested positive for 'stageable cancer' after a routine scan.

The Daytime Emmy nominee previously shared she was also 'shot in the face' and sustained painful injuries last year.

So where did it all go wrong for the cast of Even Stevens?

Shia LaBeouf (Louis Stevens)

Shia, now 39, was just 14-years-old when he landed his breakout role as Louis Stevens in the beloved series and won a Daytime Emmy.

It was what catapulted him into the spotlight, going onto star in Hollywood movies including Holes, Transformers, Indiana Jones And The Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull and Eagle Eye.

In recent years, Shia has been involved in plenty of controversies including multiple brushes with the law.

Last year, the actor's ex-girlfriend FKA Twigs officially settled her domestic abuse lawsuit.

According to court documents, the British musician (born Tahliah Debrett Barnett) requested to dismiss all claims against Shia with prejudice, meaning she cannot bring the case back to court in the future.

The lawsuit, filed in 2020, sought $10million in damages for alleged sexual battery, assault, and emotional distress during the couple's relationship.

The pair began dating after meeting on the set of LaBeouf's 2019 semi-autobiographical film Honey Boy, in which Twigs was cast.

At the time of Twigs and LaBeouf's settlement, attorneys for both parties confirmed the matter had been resolved privately.

In a statement, they said: 'Committed to forging a constructive path forward, we have agreed to settle our case out of court.

'While the details of the settlement will remain private, we wish each other personal happiness, professional success and peace in the future.'

Twigs' original complaint included several disturbing allegations, including claims that LaBeouf knowingly gave her a sexually transmitted disease and once threatened to crash a car with her inside.

She also alleged he physically assaulted her at a gas station following that incident.

LaBeouf had denied the allegations against him.

The actor later found love with wife Mia Goth, whom he has been married to for nine years and share a daughter.

LaBeouf has previously credited Mia as having 'saved [his] f*****g life,' once revealing on an episode of the REAL ONES podcast that 'she gave me hope when I was really running on fumes.' 

The pair started dating in December 2012 after meeting on the set of Nymphomaniac: Vol II, and they tied the knot in Las Vegas in 2016.

The couple's relationship was tumultuous, with the pair filmed in the midst of an explosive argument in 2015, and they went on to split up in 2018.

At the time a source told Page Six: 'Shia and Mia have filed for divorce. The separation is amicable, and all details pertaining to the divorce proceedings will remain private.'

Shia and Mia reconciled in 2020, and it was revealed that the latter was pregnant with the couple's child in 2022.

The X star gave birth to Isabel in March of that year.

Just this week, Shia was seen headbutting a man outside a New Orleans bar before getting arrested for allegedly assaulting two men in a brawl on Tuesday.

The Transformers actor, 39, is alleged to have got into the fight just after midnight with multiple people while partying during the Mardi Gras festival. 

The Daily Mail exclusively captured Shia's chaotic behaviour the next day in a shocking account that starts with him running away from the New Orleans jail.

It ended with a two-mile walk of shame in humiliating scenes in front of shocked onlookers at the Mardi Gras parade.

It seemed as if Shia - who has previously claimed to be sober - had been partying all day and into the night. 

The former child star is now facing two charges of simple battery, a spokesman for the New Orleans Police Department told the Daily Mail. 

This isn't the star's first brush with the law.

In June 2014, he was arrested for disorderly conduct and criminal trespass at Studio 54 in New York City after being disruptive during a Broadway performance of Cabaret. According to reports at the time, he started smoking in the theater, yelling at the actors and using vulgar language.

He later pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct after the outburst and was sentenced to six months of outpatient alcohol rehab.

In 2015, he was arrested for public intoxication in Austin, Texas. At the time, a witness claimed to TMZ that the actor seemed under the influence and had been jaywalking in front of police officers.

He was arrested in 2017 after an altercation at the actor's livestreamed anti-Trump art installation in Queens. Shia allegedly grabbed a man's scarf and pushed him to the ground. However, the charges against him were dropped.

That same year, he was arrested again, this time in Savannah, Georgia, for public intoxication and disorderly conduct, after which he attended court-ordered rehab.

In 2020, there was an incident in Los Angeles involving misdemeanor battery and theft, which resulted in mandated therapy, 12-step programs and sobriety monitoring.

Christy tearfully revealed she tested positive for 'stageable cancer' following a routine scan on Tuesday.

The actress, 41, was inspired to get checked by fellow Austin resident James Van Der Beek who tragically died, age 48, from stage III colon cancer last week.

'I was able to meet James Van Der Beek a bunch. His family is amazing, he was a pillar of our community in Texas,' Christy said on Instagram.

'Both my parents had cancer. My mom beat it, my dad eventually didn't, my grandmother on my mom's side had lung cancer and died from that. I got the results back a little bit before filming down in Florida [last December].'

The actor, 35, went on to land roles in popular television shows such as Married... with Children, The Amanda Show and Sabrina, the Teenage Witch all before the age of 10. 

He also starred in well-known series including Frasier, ER, Buffy the Vampire Slayer and That's So Raven.

Steven was also in The Even Stevens Movie before he departed the series in 2003. Later that year he enjoyed a role in the Steve Martin film Cheaper by the Dozen.

He then appeared in several other movies including Rebound in 2005, Bratz in 2007, and Archie's Final Project in 2009.

Steven's last movie appearance was in Holly, Jingles and Clyde 3D, in 2013. He played Jingles.

It appears Steven ditched Hollywood for a more subtle life away from screens with his family, making rare public appearances now and then.

When Steven was just 14-years-old, the child star revealed he had started to get male baldness which impacted the type of movie roles he scooped up.

'They say baldness comes from the mother's side, but I think that's b******* because my mother was Sicilian and her dad had a full head of hair. I mean, it sucks, but you come to terms with it.' 

He added: 'I was never really a vain kind of guy. I've never been one for appearances. Now, I shave my head. I don't have to look at it. What the hell do I care?' 

Steven put his career on hold after he starting balding, following the deaths of his parents who passed away from cancer. 

The actor is fairly active on social media and posts regularly on Instagram - where he has 4,874 followers. 

In the past, Steven has also opened up about his addiction to drugs and alcohol. He has been sober since 2019.

He also speaks at high schools warning students about the dangers of substance abuse.

The star is best known for her starring role as Annette in 1977's Saturday Night Fever.

The actress, who graduated from Sheepshead Bay High School, went on to work on soap operas like All My Children and One Life To Live. 

In 2006 she was seen in Crossing Jordan. And in 2007, Pescow appeared in the series finale of The Sopranos as Donna Parisi, the wife of mobster Patsy Parisi.

Her last role was in the TV series Welcome To Chippendales in 2023.
