Cate Blanchett and Son Attend Armani Fashion Show

made a rare public appearance with her son Ignatius Upton at the Giorgio Armani show during Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week on Tuesday. 

The Australian actress, 57, was all smiles as she posed with her 18-year-old son on the red carpet ahead of the show. 

Cate looked incredible in a black cut out blazer which she layered over a white blouse and matching wide legged trousers. 

Meanwhile for his first public appearance in nearly 10 years, Ignatius stepped out in an all black outfit completed with a chain necklace. 

Cate shares son Ignatius with husband Andrew Upton and they are also parents to sons Dashiel, 24, and Roman, 22, as well as adopted daughter Edith, 11.

Ignatius last stepped out with Cate at the 2018 Green Carpet Fashion Awards Italia, and before that, was seen on the red carpet with her at the Ocean's 8 premiere in London.

Back in 2020, Cate explained the origin of Ignatius' name is from Captain Underpants.

'I was eight months pregnant and hallucinating, and there's a section in the book where he gets so upset that everyone teases him because his name is Professor Pee-Pee Poopypants that he forces the world to change their names,' she shared on Jimmy Kimmel Live.

'They have this interior code, and they give these examples of names. You go down to 'I' and the example is Ignatius. It was like the Virgin Mary going 'Boom!' she added.

No stranger to glamorous red carpet appearances, Cate recently showed she wasn't prepared to be messed with during a red carpet appearance at the .

At first, Cate kept her cool, telling him with a smile to 'stop' asking for a picture at his convenience.

But after he insisted, the actress stuck up the middle finger of her left hand in his direction - while keeping her face turned away.

The cheeky gesture was met with a chorus of raucous laughter from the media scrum, while the Lord of the Rings star reacted with a broad grin.

A video of Cate's unexpected red carpet moment was later posted on the Movie TV News site and met with enthusiastic approval from fans.

'God, that was the smoothest, classiest flip I've seen in a minute,' gushed one person, while another added, 'I love her for this.'
