Kim 'Busty Beatz' Bowers has died after a battle with breast .

The  musician, best known for her award-winning theatrical show Hot Brown Honey, passed away surrounded by family and friends on Thursday, at age 49.

'Our Queen Bee @bustybeatz walked towards the ancestors last night surrounded by family and friends, wrapped in hugs, flowers and tears,' her Hot Brown Honey co-directors announced in a post on social media.

'A leader, a staunch sister, a mentor, a maker of beatz, heart rhythms and words that made us stand up and listen,' they continued.

'I know we will continue to create beautiful art together from the dream world, full of joy and cheekiness, built with radical fierce love and a middle finger to the systems. But for now Queen, sleep well, rest.

'The family will be holding a private ceremony but feel free to take a moment and ask your ancestors to hold her with ours.'

The post concluded with a poem from Bowers, in which she wrote that she would 'take these unliveable factors' and 'make rhythm.'

'I'm open up to last,' she continued, 'this calling, a heartsong, I'm smitten'.

Bowers was diagnosed with an aggressive triple-negative breast cancer in late 2022.

The talented performer signed her first record deal at the tender age of 16 and worked in the entertainment industry ever since.

A tribute from the Australian Women In Music this week read: 'Our dear Kim "Busty Beatz" Bowers has moved on, leaving behind a legacy that was as loud, fearless, and transformative as she was.

'Kim wasn't just a creator; she was a force who used every note and every word to shake the floorboards of our culture.

'She spent her life pulling the "unseen" out of the shadows and putting them under the spotlight where they belonged.

'She made sure no one had to be invisible when she was in the room.
