Dean Wells Criticizes Australia Post for Indigenous Name Section on Parcels

Australian influencer Dean Wells has taken to social media to slam Australia Post for including a Traditional Place Name box on its parcel address form.

The 47-year-old former Married at First Sight groom posted his angry response to his stories on Tuesday, with the sarcastic caption: ‘Really Auspost?’  

Wells’ whinge comes nearly five years after Australia Post introduced standard packaging on parcels and envelopes that included the option to write the First Nations name into the address. 

In his share, Wells included a screenshot of an Australia Post envelope, which included spaces for ‘contact name’ and ‘company name’.

However, in his post, Wells had circled in red the section that said: ‘Traditional place name (if known)’.

‘There is literally no reason to put traditional place names on our envelopes,’ he added in a comment.

A spokeswoman from Australia Post told Daily Mail back in 2020 that the new address guidelines were created to encourage customers to ‘acknowledge the traditional custodians of the land your item is being delivered on’.

‘We have a long and proud history of promoting and celebrating Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture and implementing measures that contribute to a lasting reconciliation between Indigenous and non-Indigenous Australians.’

Wells developed a reputation for his outspoken nature when he appeared on MAFS in 2018.

He now hosts his own politically incorrect podcast and YouTube series called Dangerous Ideas with Deano.

In August 2023, he announced his engagement to Beauty and The Geek star Aimee Woolley.

Dean and Aimee first sparked rumours they were dating in August 2022 when they were seen cuddling and kissing in a restaurant.

The lovebirds went official the following month after they both walked the red carpet at Maxim Magazine’s 11th birthday party in Sydney’s Potts Point.

Aimee uploaded a picture of the couple cuddling at the event to Instagram, writing: ‘Could this be my new geek?’

Dancing With The Stars contestant Dean promptly commented on the post: ‘Haha I’m def not a geek babe.’

Aimee was a contestant on Beauty And The Geek in 2022, teaming up with ‘geek’ and martial arts expert Jayden.

Meanwhile, Dean shot to fame on Married At First Sight’s fifth season after cheating on his ‘wife’ Tracey Jewel with Davina Rankin.

He has since made headlines for his controversial and outspoken views.

In February 2023, he shared a Photoshopped flyer to Instagram advertising a performance by Sydney drag queen Charisma Belle at Manly Library for children as young as three.

Dean edited the original flyer to include an unrelated image taken from Charisma’s Instagram feed showing the performer spreading her legs in a vulgar fashion.

He accompanied this with a caption condemning the event and labelled drag performances ‘inherently sexual’ – sparking outrage among critics.
