has opened up about the 'ridiculous' purchase he made for his home which caused a serious rift with his fiancée - and revealed why he pays his colleague one pound every week.

The Wandsworth-born presenter of Big Brother revealed the truth about his finances in Spent, the finance podcast in association with Nationwide.

Speaking to host and long-time friend Matt Edmonson, Best, 41, explained how, after purchasing a new home with his fiancée, he received a targeted advert on social media for a miniature model of a home which can be used to plan out furniture and formats for one's house.

Describing it as similar to Lego but 'less user-friendly', Best joked the set, when it arrived, was a 'shambles' and a waste of money - adding he had 'had a drink' when he splashed out on the item.

'The board isn't big enough and is also too big, nothing kind of seems to fit together,' he joked, leaving his former presenting colleague Edmonson in stitches.

'It caused quite a big argument with my fiancée because as soon as it arrived she was like, 'why have you bought this? Not only is it a waste of money, it's a waste o space'.'

He added: 'She got really cross because she was like, 'we've bought a house, we're starting the next phase of our lives together, we're getting married - and it worries me that you're such an idiot that you would spend so much money on something so obviously useless'.'

Best also revealed another trivial thing on which he spends his money - a payment plan of £1 per week to his fellow radio show host, Fleur East.

Big Brother presenter Will Best, 41, appeared on this week's episode of Spent, in association with Nationwide, where he opened up about his finances

The pair present Hits Radio Breakfast alongside James Barr. Best described a segment of the show in which they play games with callers.

'Somebody gave an answer on this game we were playing and I thought they were right, the others thought they were wrong.

'Off air, I said to Fleur, 'I bet you a million pounds that this guy said this exact word'. She said, 'I bet he didn't'.'

When the show's producer replayed the clip, Best was proven wrong - leaving him in significant debt to his co-presenter.

'I set up a payment plan and now I'm paying Fleur East a pound a week. It comes out every Tuesday,' he said.

Will spoke to podcast host and former colleague Matt Edmonson, and opened up about the sillier purchases he has made in his life

Best has previously been praised for opening up about his mental health struggles.

Last year, in an appearance on Loose Women, he discussed his near-lifelong battle with anxiety.

Panellist Jane Moore said: 'It's a very strange career you've gone for, given the general anxiety about a lot of things...'

Will confessed: 'I don't know why I did it, the busier I've got... the last couple of years have been amazing.

'But I do now live in a permanent state of terror.'

He then explained that he's worried about his career coming to an end, and people saying horrible things, and just 'general anxiety' about it.

Will added: 'I've always had issues with anxiety.

'But this has massively heightened it. I'm waiting for it to subside. To get easier. But maybe it won't.'

The TV star took on the role of Big Brother host when the popular ITV show got rebooted back in 2023.

Will decided to have therapy before taking on his big presenting role two years ago.

Before the launch of the first Big Brother reboot series, I got EPMD theory, I did it for a specific reason.

It's a specific thing for overcoming, not general anxiety, focused anxiety. '

Will explained that his biggest fear on the launch night was that he was going to get a dry mouth.

He explained to the panel: 'I did this type of therapy, which disassociates you with negative thoughts associated with specific scenarios and I didn't get a dry mouth!'

The host believes that he's suffered with anxiety since he was young, and he also has health anxiety too.

'I remember as a kid, as what I discovered what cancer was, and I was like oh that sounds bad oh no I'm going to get that,' he told the panel.

'It's always been bubbling away.

'The health anxiety thing I've been wanting to get a hand on.'
