Tatum O’Neal shared a touching tribute to her father Ryan O’Neal on the day of his passing on Friday.

The actress, 60, said that she feels ‘great sorrow’ after it was announced that her father had passed away at the age of 82 earlier in the day.

In a statement shared with People, she said that her formerly estranged  father ‘meant the world’ to her and she is grateful that they ‘ended on such good terms.’

‘I feel great sorrow with my father’s passing,’ she began. ‘He meant the world to me.

‘I loved him very much and know he loved me too,’ she continued. ‘I’ll miss him forever and I feel very lucky that we ended on such good terms.’

The father-daughter duo had starred together in 1973 comedy drama film Paper Moon as protagonists Moze and Addie. Her performance of the role won her an Academy Award for best supporting actress.

Tatum went on to earn the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for the film when she was just 10 years old, making her the youngest person to ever win a competitive Oscar.

Earlier in the day, her brother, Patrick O’Neal, announced their father’s death and posted the tragic news to Instagram.
