The genres that aren't traditionally recognized by awards shows are getting their time to shine at the Critics Choice Super Awards - where trophies recognizing the superhero, science fiction, fantasy, horror, and action films (and even villains) that stood out from 2025 to 2026 up for honors.
The nominations for this year's Super Awards have been announced and boast a star-studded list that will see A-listers go head-to-head for unconventional honors that include 'Best Villain' and Best Horror Film.
The winners of the awards - which honors actors and projects across film and television - will be announced on August 6 via a press release.
The Furious and The Naked Gun are among the films nominated for Best Action Movie, while Superman and Supergirl will be competing for Best Superhero Movie.
Superman stars David Corenswet and have also both been nominated for Best Actor in a Superhero Movie and Best Actress in a Superhero Movie.

Two of the year's most talked-about films, Obsession and Backrooms, have also received multiple nominations, including Best Horror Movie.
The Naked Gun star Pamela Anderson, The Bluff star Priyanka Chopra Jonas, and Apex star Charlize Theron will also be competing for Best Actress in an Action Movie.
The Best Actor in an Action Movie category also boasts nominees such as Matt Damon of The Rip, Taron Egerton of Apex, and Bob Odenkirk of Normal.
