has branded the extremist influencers in Louis Theroux's documentary 'disgusting and dangerous'.

Documentarian Louis, 55, went behind the scenes at the forefront of a fast-growing cultural movement of extremist influencers targeting young men with misogynistic, homophobic, antisemitic and racist views online.

Among those who tuned in to watch was former star Spencer - who shared his horror at the 'misinformed and poisonous content' on display.

Taking to Instagram on Thursday, Spencer dubbed the the misogynist influencers' behaviour towards women 'deeply disturbing' and said: 'These are not real men.'

Spencer went on to stress that what young men actually need is better role models, honest conversations and a sense of belonging.

'I watched : Inside the Manosphere last night and I found it deeply disturbing,' he said. 'The subjects of this doc are nothing short of disgusting and dangerous.

'All of them are awful men who treat women with astounding levels of disrespect and reduce them to idiots who themselves "don't know what they want" who should just be happy to accept the dire terms of their unequal relationships.

'These are not real men…The wedge that these sad individuals are driving between men and women is regressive and wrong.'

Spencer continued: 'I feel for the young men who are influenced by them who no doubt deep down feel even more lost, isolated and unsure of their place in the world.

'I consider it my duty as a father to shield my sons (and daughter) from this ridiculous, misinformed and poisonous content.

'What many young men need is far simpler: Better role models. Honest conversations. A sense of belonging. And positive examples of discipline, accountability and self‑respect.

'There's a big difference between helping men become strong and teaching them to become more cold and resentful.

'A fascinating documentary. But a difficult watch.'

Spencer joins a growing number of parents who are concerned as to how to protect their children from the Manosphere's influence. 

After the release of Louis's latest documentary on Wednesday, parents were left 'terrified' by the 'toxic behaviour and extremist views' of the world of alpha male influencers.

The Manosphere itself refers to an online network - including forums, websites and blogs - that promote anti-feminist beliefs, masculinity and misogyny. 

Louis himself sent out a warning to parents of boys following abusive run-ins while filming the documentary

The 55-year-old entered their world and learned how these individuals highlight their respective views on traditional gender roles and values. 

Now, worried parents of young boys have shared their utter terror after watching the documentary as they insisted they will be showing it to their own sons.  

It follows the widespread impact of Netflix's drama series Adolescence, which . 

Sharing their thoughts on Louis's latest deep-dive documentary, concerned parents wrote in the comments: 'Watching this now and I am speechless. As a mum of four boys it is terrifying,';

'Had to watch in stages as these people are beyond belief! I'd be so ashamed if I was their parent. Going to watch again with my 2 sons,';

'Fantastic work! Thank you for shedding light on a world that many parents of teen and young adult sons have been worrying about, let alone understand it.
