The actress, 30, has already given fans of the long-running franchise, which started life a video game series in the 1990s, a first look at her reinterpretation of the iconic character.

And with filming well underway, she gave them another after joining co-star Martin Bobb-Semple on the steps of London's British Museum.

Wrapped in a quilted winter coat, the actress appeared to be taking a break as she idled with crew-members outside the Great Russell Street address.

But the distinctive cropped vest favoured by Croft was still evident, with Turner revealing her abs as she prepared to film her latest scenes.

'I've been training for a long time now, coming up on a year, and we're going to start shooting in January.

'I'm really excited, but I feel prepped, and I feel really lucky to have such a great relationship with Amazon, and I'm excited for the world to see what we do with Lara and Tomb Raider. I think it's going to be something special.'

Sigourney Weaver, Jason Isaacs, Jack Bannon and Celia Imrie will also feature in the forthcoming series.

But it hasn't been easy for the cast, with Turner revealing she suffered a recurring back problem while training for her role as the athletic Croft.

Appearing on The Julia Cunningham Show, she said: 'We've been doing eight hours a day, five days a week since February last year, of training. Yeah, so it's been a lot.

'I've learned I have a perpetual back problem, but I also realised that it's much easier to kind of build muscle if you've ever worked out before in your life, which I never had, so it has taken me months and months and months to get into good shape.'

Turner is perhaps best known for , but she insisted her years on the show didn't help prepare her for Tomb Raider because she was never involved in any action scenes.

'No, I was the cool queen who, like, didn't have to do that. I also just kind of was the one that got beat up, not the one doing the beating,' she said.

'So, it's quite nice to learn how to throw a punch and not just take it.'
