Rosie O’Donnell has shared a deeply personal poem reflecting on her recent visit to see her daughter Chelsea in prison.

Chelsea, 28, was jailed in October after her probation was revoked following a string of arrests in 2024, involving multiple felony charges, including child neglect and possession of methamphetamine.

The comedian said she recently visited her daughter behind bars at Chelsea’s request, documenting the emotional encounter in a poem shared on Instagram on Friday.

She also posted a mother-daughter selfie reportedly taken during the visit, showing Chelsea smiling as she embraces her mother.

In the poem, O’Donnell described the moment Chelsea entered the visitation room, writing that her heart skipped ‘a beat’.

She added: ‘She looks good,’ before noting, ‘Healthy calm / Rested blue eyes / Clear skin / In her green uniform.’

O’Donnell wrote that the pair shared an embrace during the visit, saying she held ‘on tight’ and looked directly into her daughter’s eyes. ‘We have been thru so much,’ she reflected.

She also referenced Chelsea’s children, writing that her daughter’s four kids ‘have not visited’ her in prison, ‘which pains her I know.’

O’Donnell said Chelsea calls her ‘daily’ from prison, adding that they have grown closer during what she described as ‘tense times’.

‘That she’s alive,’ she wrote, adding that she is ‘looking forward to her release’.

Chelsea is currently serving a prison sentence after previously pleading guilty to felony bail jumping, resisting or obstructing an officer, and possession of methamphetamine.

She was initially sentenced to probation in March but was later jailed after violating its conditions.

At the time, O’Donnell said she had compassion for those struggling with addiction, adding: ‘Chelsea was born into addiction and it has been a painful journey for her and her four young children. We continue to love and support her through these horrible times. Prayers welcomed.’

The prison visit comes just weeks after the TV personality revealed she had undergone a secret facelift, despite previously insisting she would never turn to cosmetic surgery.

In a candid essay on her Substack, O’Donnell reflected on the guilt and internal conflict she felt after the procedure earlier this year.

She wrote: ‘I used to feel very strongly about facelifts. Not casually - morally. I had assigned myself as head of all women who would never - ever.

‘I thought it was a betrayal. Of feminism. Of aging. Of our team of women worldwide. And then I lost 50 pounds.

‘It wasn’t wrinkles - it was gravity. I’d look in the mirror and think, this isn’t aging, this is melting with intention. I tried to be evolved about it. And say things like, "This is natural. This is earned." And then… "umm how earned does it have to look?" There’s a point where acceptance starts to feel like lying.’
