The Oscar-nominated actress used the term while discussing her recent trip to with her partner and their two sons Solo, 13, and Atom, ten.
'I went on a two-week trip to China with my family,' she told the Travel Secrets podcast. 'My children speak Chinese, which is a superpower. It means that I have an experience of China that I couldn't otherwise have.'
She added: 'We can dive into the midst of something and not fear getting lost or getting ripped off or any number of things. So we go into the night markets... My husband, mainly to amuse the children, ate a skewer of scorpions, grilled before him on the griddle.'
The surprise reference is the first time the Gone Girl star has publicly called Robie her 'husband' - fuelling mounting speculation that the famously private couple have secretly tied the knot.
This year, the 50th anniversary takes place at the Royal Albert Hall in London.

The most nominated plays are All My Sons, Kenrex and Stereophonic, with six nominations each.

Established in 1976, the Olivier Awards celebrate the world-class status of London theatre.
