Ricki Lake admitted that her  nearly two years ago had been an 'impulsive' decision with little research following her 40-pound . 

The 57-year-old star - who of 130lbs - got candid about the topic during Monday's episode of the Inside Edit podcast. 

The Hairspray actress has been vocal about her weight loss journey and expressing that it was 'one of the best decisions' she made. 

'I didn't do any research when I decided very impulsively to have my face done,' Lake said to host and celebrity stylist Maeve Reilly. 

She recalled booking a consultation with a doctor through the recommendation of a friend and set up a surgery appointment just weeks later.

'I met with him on the next available [appointment]. I had my consult, I booked the next available appointment. So, that was in mid-June. I booked for July 18,' Lake explained. 'Never looked back.'

After dropping 40 pounds, the star explained that she had sagging skin underneath her chin. 

'And it wasn't just like that I didn't like what I saw or wanted to look younger. I have gray hair. It's not about that.'

She added that it was an 'amazing experience' while sharing that the healing process happened very 'quickly'

'I've had a lower face and neck lift,' the Cry-Baby actress shared at the time. 'This is something that was bothering me'

She also gave a special shout out to 'genius' Beverly Hills plastic surgeon Dr. Allen Foulad who did her facelift.

Cohen then replied, '[I've] got to tell you I'm heading to LA for this! I've seen a lot of [plastic surgery] work in these chairs. That's really good.' 

Lake expressed that she cannot see any scarring after the procedure and said, 'You can't see [any] thing. It looks amazing.

'And I love that I can talk about it. I'm fully transparent, always have been, but I don't want there to be any stigma.' 

The star also jumped to her Instagram page on the one-year anniversary of undergoing the procedure in July of last year. 

'One year ago today I did a thing,' she penned, while also uploading before and after photos to her followers.

'Yes, today July 18th, is the one year anniversary of my deep plane lower face and neck lift, plus a mild co2 laser,' Lake said before adding that Foulad is 'a true master in his field.'

'I had lost 40 lbs and did not like the extra skin that hung from below my chin. It was never going to tighten up on its own. Not at 55.'

The actress further wrote, 'Trust me, when I tell you, I still felt extra cute and loved myself regardless, especially after working so hard to get in the best shape of my life.

'One year later, I look back on my brave choice and consider it one of the best decisions I ever made for myself.' 

Lake emphasized that she is 'an open book and always will be...'

In January 2025, Lake revealed that she had reached her goal weight of 130lbs without the help of a GLP-1 drug. 

'I did not go on any drug because I wasn't prediabetic,' the TV personality previously told Us Weekly

'There's nothing wrong with those drugs. They're actually game changers for so many people. But for me, I did not want to be reliant on a drug if I could help it.'

Other celebrities have been vocal about their use of GLP-1 medications such as Ozempic to aid in their weight loss journey such as Oprah Winfrey, Meghan Trainor and Sharon Osbourne.

When it came to losing weight, Lake explained that she followed a strict keto diet, went to Pilates classes and also took two-mile daily hikes while wearing a weighted vest. 

'I wore my Oura ring [which tracks health data]. I prioritized sleep and overall, a low-stress lifestyle. And it worked. It continues to work,' the former talk show host said.
