put on a cozy display with his decades-younger co-star this week as they filmed controversial romance drama, Asymmetry, in .

The veteran actor, 76, was seen holding hands with and embracing actress Diana Silvers, 28, during romantic park scenes for the film, based on the acclaimed 2018 novel of the same name by Lisa Halliday.

Gere, who has an age-gap relationship off-screen with wife Alejandra Silva, 43, looked at ease with Booksmart star Silvers as they chatted warmly, before checking out their scenes on a monitor. He will turn 77 next month.

Asymmetry, per the logline, tells the story of a young editorial assistant in New York, Alice (Silvers), who comes upon world-renowned 70-year-old author Ezra (Gere) in Central Park one day.

'Their one moment of eye contact sparks a connection that leads them both down a life-changing rabbit hole, where they create a private world just for two.

'Ezra, famous for his audacious work, finds someone with whom he can be openly vulnerable, and Alice finds the courage to explore her own aspirations as a writer. Until it is all put at risk when their secret relationship is exposed. '

Oscar winner Edward Zwick is directing, producing and writing the film.

Gere described his son, who he shares with ex-wife Carey Lowell, as 'a really good young man who kind of gets it.'

Speaking about , Gere said that acting 'is not an easy job' and 'not everyone can function within it,' adding, 'I think he can stay.'

'I still need to see his second episode of Euphoria, but he has this big thing coming up with Ryan Murphy,' Gere said.

Gere noted his son also 'just finished shooting a film' with venerated director Oliver Stone.

He said in jest, 'I can retire now. I'm passing the torch.'

Gere said he wasn't putting any pressure on his son to fill his shoes in Hollywood, making clear he was fine with Homer pursuing anything that made him happy.

'I don't think he's got to make a life choice to commit to this if he's doing this now,' Gere said. 'He's good at it and he's having fun, but he can become a rock climber if he wants to do that.'

Gere and Silva famously relocated to her native Spain in 2025, and in a chat with Elle España earlier this year in January, the couple opened up about the big move.

'The truth is that you are seeing us in our momentum. We are happier than ever,' the Hollywood star expressed.

She also gushed: 'We are like soulmates. We have the same values, we see the world in the same way and from the first moment we felt like we have known each other for a long time. And this only happens once, if it happens at all.'
