The Pioneer Woman star Ree Drummond joyfully announced on her website this week that she has become a grandmother.
Her daughter Alex, 27, revealed this June that she and her husband Mauricio Scott were expecting their firstborn child this winter.
Their bundle of joy arrived in time for Christmas when Alex gave birth to her daughter at 2:30am this Wednesday in Dallas, Texas.
Ree shared heartwarming snap of her cradling her ‘perfect’ newborn granddaughter – and just underneath it, she revealed the baby’s name.
‘My heart is exploding with happiness, so I couldn’t wait to share the news with you that Alex and Mauricio’s baby girl, Sofia, was born early this morning!’ she wrote.
‘My daughter just had a daughter. I’m honestly still trying to wrap my head (and heart) around it all,’ the television personality glowingly added.

Ree and her husband Ladd, whom she has been married to for 28 years, were able to arrive at the Dallas hospital in time for the birth.
‘Mauricio attended to Alex’s every need, to the point that the rest of us questioned if we even needed to be there,’ Ree gushed. ‘What a gift to Ladd and me, for Alex to have a partner in life who demonstrates his love through such clear action.’
She described the baby as ‘perfect,’ adding: ‘I’m saying that with as much objectivity as I can. But I’m not kidding…she is perfect. Like, if you looked up “perfect” in Miriam Webster, it would reference Sofia Scott, and maybe even show a photo of her. Although that would probably technically be an encyclopedia.’
Ree warmly told her fans: ‘I want Alex’s internet aunts and uncles, who have watched her grow up on my blog and cooking show, to be able to celebrate the best day of her life…and certainly my and Ladd’s life.’
She closed by expressing her gratitude, writing: ‘Thank you, God, for Alex and Mauricio, and for my beautiful granddaughter Sofia Marie Scott!’
Alex and Mauricio tied the knot at the Drummond Ranch in rural Oklahoma on May Day 2021, and announced she was pregnant this June.
‘We can’t wait to meet you, little one. Baby Scott joining the party this winter!’ they wrote in a joint Instagram post. ‘Thank you Lord for this precious gift.’
Weeks later, they disclosed that they were expecting a girl in a sweet video that showed their golden retriever George biting into a cupcake with pink filling.

In addition to Alex, Ree and Ladd also have a daughter called Paige, 24, who has been engaged to her boyfriend David Andersen since at least early August.
Ree responded gleefully to the engagement news, revealing she knew David was planning to propose for ‘six weeks’ before he did so.
”We are so happy!’ she wrote in a joyful post on her website. ‘Paige and David are such a great match, a terrific team!’
In September, Ree posted social media photos of her going bridal gown shopping with Paige, indicating wedding plans are well underway.
Her new suite of photos from Alex’ hospital room includes a heartwarming snap of Paige in an armchair, holding her newborn niece Sofia.
