Lauren Graham has accidentally revealed the father of Parenthood co-star Mae Whitman’s baby.
The Gilmore Girls legend, 57, who recently enjoyed a cast reunion, was promoting her new show, The Z-Suite, on Dax Shepherd’s Armchair Expert podcast.
Shepherd, 50, starred as Graham’s brother on the popular drama for five seasons.
When they began walking down memory lane and discussing Graham’s relationship with her on-screen daughter, she accidentally revealed the father of Whitman’s son, Miles, who was born in August 2024.
Whitman, 36, did not reveal the child’s father when she announced she was expecting in May 2024 or after he was born.
‘I’m trying to think of the last time [I saw her]. They’re in New York now. Carlos, her baby daddy, is on Broadway in Hadestown, which I feel happy to plug because he’s fantastic in it, Carlos Valdes.’

Whitman and Valdes, 35, worked together on Hulu’s musical comedy Up Here.
‘He’s really great,’ Graham, said, adding, ‘And so they’re in New York for the next while and then she got this job in Ireland. So she’s in Ireland with the baby.’
Graham and co-star Miles Heizer, who played her son on Parenthood, were included in Whitman’s announcement she was pregnant.
‘Not to make a Parenthood episode out of it or anything but!!! Mother’s Day looking a little different this year!’ Whitman wrote in May 2024 on social media. ‘Can’t wait to meet you, huge baby kicking my insides to filth!’ Her son is named for her on-screen brother.
During the podcast, Graham spoke about the special relationship she and Whitman have.
‘I’m envious of your relationship with Mae,’ Shepherd said.
‘Really?’ Graham replied.

Whitman did not name Valdes when she announced her pregnancy in May 2024, but did include her Parenthood mom and brother, Miles Heizer in the post in which she broke the news

Whitman showed Valdes’ hand in the photo announcing the baby’s birth but did not name him as the father, although she did reveal the baby had been named Miles in honor of ‘uncle Miles’ Heizer
‘It really is,’ Graham agreed. ‘Like, I still get a little, like, thrill when she’ll text me back, because it’s not a given.’
‘And she’s a mom now, and she’s working, and she’s in Ireland,’ the Gilmore Girls veteran said. ‘She’s hard to pin down,’ Shepherd agreed.
‘If I can get her, I’ll be like, you know, panic text her to, you know, just get as much out as I can,’ she explained. ‘It is really a special relationship and I feel really thankful for it.’

Neither Whitman nor Valdez has commented on the gaff
‘It’s kind of flattering,’ Shepherd interjected, adding, ’cause she’s a blessing on planet Earth. She is one of my absolute people I’ve ever met and my envy is that I’ve been trying to hang out with her 10 years,’ said.
‘It really is like Christmas,’ Graham admitted, adding that some of their interactions ‘have to do with bribing her,’ as Shepherd joked, ‘She needs lawn equipment or something.’
Regarding their friendship, Graham said she and Whitman approached it as equals. ‘She’s young, but she’s like, an old soul,… she’s wise, there are certain things I would go to her about because she’s one of those people… who has a very definite opinion.’
