Pidgeon and Kelly Reunite at Glamorous Met Gala

The show debuted as FX's most streamed limited series, per Variety, and viewership grew as more episodes dropped at the time. 

Following the final episode, Love Story had raked in 65 million hours streamed on Hulu as well as Disney+ alone. The last episode which is titled Search And Recovery was the most-viewed out of the series. 

Other cast members in the show included Grace Gummer, Naomi Watts, Alessandro Nivola, Leila George, Sydney Lemmon and also Constance Zimmer. 

On Rotten Tomatoes, critics gave a score of 81% while the audience ratings reached 69%. 

However, some reviews were mixed as the Daily Mail gave the first three episodes two out of five stars. 

A close designer friend of Bessette-Kennedy, Gordon Henderson, recently told The Post, 'I just thought it was not done well. 

'I only watched one half of the first episode and said, "It's not going to be good." I really don't like to watch stories about John and Carolyn because they always got it wrong.'

During an interview with Vogue, Pidgeon opened up about portraying Bessette-Kennedy on the screen. 

'The online conversations at the beginning of the process served as a reminder of how important it was to get our portrayal of Carolyn correct. She grew even more important to me.' 

She added, 'People really, really love Carolyn, and my priority every single day on set was doing justice to her legacy.' 

The actress later told the outlet what she hoped the audience took away from the series. 

'What I hope is that people feel a little closer to knowing the woman behind the clothes.' 

Pidgeon continued, 'She is known as this minimalist fashion icon, but I learned that she was also vivacious, funny, and had a wildness about her.'

The star's performance in Love Story has garnered predictions that she could possibly be in the running for an Emmy nomination, per The Hollywood Reporter. 

Bessette and Kennedy Jr. first met in 1992 when he was in a relationship with Daryl Hannah. 

The pair later began dating in 1994 and their romance was thrust in the public spotlight. They tied the knot during a private ceremony in September 1996 on the Georgia island of Cumberland. 

Three years later, the couple as well as Lauren Bessette tragically died in a plane crash while en route to Martha's Vineyard on July 16, 1999. 

Kennedy Jr. had been piloting a Piper Saratoga at the time of the crash.
