New Bike Lane on Gallaghers Street: Controversial!

When bought a new mansion in London's sleepy celebrity haunt St John's Wood last autumn, he probably hoped for some calm amid the city's chaos.

Instead, the Oasis star – whose move I revealed in November – has found himself embroiled in a row about a new cycling lane proposed by Westminster City Council and .

The moneyed locals protested against the 'seriously flawed' plans for a bicycle superhighway last year and collected more than 1,000 disgruntled signatures.

The millionaires claimed the road was already a 'narrow residential street' and fumed about the potential loss of 130 parking spaces.

I imagine they fretted about where on Earth they would park their Porsches?

And I hear the feud has still not simmered down, for the council has quietly begun pushing through parts of the 'monstrous' cycle lane.

'It's outrageous,' one local tells me, adding they are concerned about the 'safety' of the proposed plans. 'I'm worried about speeding E-bikes and scooters.' 

Noel has yet to weigh- in on the St John's Wood cycling debacle, though I imagine he holds an opinion as an avid cyclist himself.

The guitarist has revealed he pedals around the Hampshire countryside – where he also has a palatial property – up to four times a week.

But he does have qualms with cycling when it comes to safety: 'The only downside of the bike is the f*****g helmet, but what are you gonna do?,' he once said.

Noel was last night approached for comment.
