Mystikal has officially been sentenced after in 2022 at his Prairieville, home.

On Tuesday, the 55-year-old rapper, who is best known for making hit songs in the late 1990s and early 2000s, was sentenced to 20 years in prison for third-degree rape, according to WBRZ.

During the hearing, the victim asked the judge to give Mystikal - born Michael Lawrence Tyler - the 'maximum sentence' as she recalled being 'forcibly raped' by the musician.

She said she was also punched, choked and had her braids pulled out of her hair by Tyler during the horrific 2022 assault.

Tyler then had an opportunity to address the court. 'If I did that to [her], I deserve the max sentence,' he told the judge after initially trying to speak directly to the victim.

The judge then handed down Tyler's sentence, which was capped at 20 years due to a plea deal he took earlier this year.

According to WBRZ, Tyler's attorney had attempted to withdraw the rapper's guilty plea just days before Tuesday's sentencing.

Tyler's lawyer argued that he did not have the time to 'fully consider the consequences' of a guilty plea before making the decision.

However, the motion was eventually dismissed.

The prosecutor in that case, Sue Bernie, said in 2003 that the woman told investigators that Tyler accused her of stealing $80,000 of his checks and told her he would not go to police if she did something 'degrading'.

The woman denied stealing any money, Bernie said. A letter in court records before Tyler's sentencing said he paid the woman $350,000.

He served six years in prison for that conviction, which came the same year he was nominated for two Grammy Awards. He also received a nomination in 2001.

Tyler also had rape and kidnapping charges that prosecutors in Louisiana dropped in December 2020.

Those charges, brought in 2017, had kept Tyler jailed for nearly 18 months before he was released on $3 million bond.
