Meryl Streep was recently spotted enjoying a concert in Los Angeles, just days after her rumored romance with Martin Short seemed to gain confirmation.

The Oscar-winning actress, 75, attended a performance by the legendary Joni Mitchell at the Hollywood Bowl on Sunday. 

Dressed in a chic all-black ensemble featuring an oxford shirt and matching pants, the Sophie’s Choice star radiated sophistication as she arrived at the iconic venue with a group of beaming friends.

This outing came on the heels of Steve Martin’s playful social media post, where he shared a throwback photo of himself alongside Streep and Short—but with a crossed-out red circle over his own face. 

This cheeky gesture sent fans into a tizzy, sparking speculation that Martin was addressing the swirling romance rumors between his co-stars.

The 79-year-old actor shares the screen with 74-year-old Short in the hit series Only Murders in the Building, where Streep makes a special guest appearance in the third and fourth seasons. 

However, both Martin and Meryl have insisted they are only friends and back in August, Streep broke her silence on the speculation after the pair held hands on the red carpet. 

Fans shared their thoughts in the comment section of Steve’s post, with one typing out, ‘did he just hard launch the relationship.’ 

Another excitedly penned, ‘Are u confirming this relationship?!’ while one shared, ‘I’m taking this as confirmation. I’ve never been so invested in celebrity couple rumors.’ 

‘Is this the couple reveal we’ve been waiting for?’ one Instagram user asked, while another added, ‘@selenagomez help him please. We don’t understand,’ followed by a laughing face emoji. 

One wrote, ‘While Meryl and Martin claim they’re just friends, Steve rats them out,’ followed by a laughing emoji. 

Another fan typed, ‘the fact that you didn’t even add a caption,’ while one penned, ‘I don’t know why the thought of Meryl and martin makes me so happy but it honestly fills my heart with joy.’ 

‘Always the last one to understand these clues about relationships. But if so that would be a fabulous couple,’ one Instagram user added. 

Another added in the comment section, ‘If it is indeed true that they are together, I am very happy for them,’ while one also asked, ‘is he confirming their relationship.’ 

Last year in January, it was announced that Meryl was joining the cast of Only Murders In The Building – and has appeared in both the third and fourth season of the Hulu show. 

Short later told People of Streep’s casting in the series, ‘The story with Meryl is she phoned me and said, “I want to be on it.”‘ 

‘They already planned that I would have a theatrical experience and there would be a love interest.’ 

Martin added, ‘So that was coincidental, but she just wanted to be on the show. She didn’t know about [the love story].’ 

John Hoffman, the showrunner of Only Murders In The Building, discussed Martin and Meryl’s chemistry last year. 

He told The Wrap, ‘It’s pretty unexpected to imagine a pairing of Meryl Streep with Martin Short and watch them find this incredible connection together.’

‘And, as Meryl said, to not have it be twee or about the age or about any of that. It’s just a beautiful romance that you buy, I think because of who these two characters are.’

And in October 2023, it was revealed that Streep had quietly separated from husband, Don Gummer, six years earlier. 

Meryl and Martin have been spotted at various events together, such as the Golden Globe Awards that were held earlier this year in Beverly Hills in January. 

Back in May, Short addressed romance speculation between him and Streep while also talking to People. 

‘It’s always interesting. Show business relationships and spec. She’s fabulous. There’s no one who doesn’t adore her,’ the actor said at the time. 

A few months earlier in August, Meryl and Martin further fueled romance rumors when they were seen holding hands at the season four premiere of the Hulu series in Los Angeles. 

The Devil Wears Prada actress was dressed to impress in a printed dress, while Short was dapper in a classic, black suit. 

That same month, Meryl broke her silence on the speculation with her representative telling Page Six, ‘They are just friends.’

A separate source also told the publication, ‘It’s gotta be more than a “showmance.” There is definitely something there.’ 

Last month in September, Martin briefly discussed both his and Streep’s friendship when they are not in front of the camera. 

‘I think it’s been a friendship that always grows if you work with someone and love that person,’ he told Extra.  

Despite the pair claiming they are ‘just friends,’ romance rumors were once again ignited as Streep and Short enjoyed a dinner date earlier this week on Thursday. 

The two stars stopped by celebrity hotspot, Giorgio Baldi, in Santa Monica – and left the eatery in the same vehicle. 

Meryl was stylish wearing a vibrant, blue printed blouse as well as a pair of loose-fitting trousers for the nighttime outing. 

Martin donned a dark gray suit which was paired with a white shirt as well as a pair of dark tan sneakers.
