It raised eyebrows when the documentarian was picked for a campaign by trainer giant Nike and high street chain JD Sports to model a re-run of the classic Air Max 95 OG Neon. The trainer first came more than 30 years ago.
The 55-year-old presenter - who has found renewed success with his Inside The Manosphere documentary - also modelled a £90 track suit top and £35 T-shirt range to go with the drop telling fans: 'Only OGs wear OG Neon.'
The pricey footwear hit the shelves last week and JD has sold out its range of men's footwear, with maker Nike only showing small men's sizes in 4.5, 5,5, and 6.
The trainers have now appeared on sites like where those hoping to get their hands on them will have to cough up £400.
JD had told buyers: 'Missed out last time? The wait's finally over. After the 30th anniversary drop a year ago, the Nike Air Max 95 OG Neon has returned to JD.

'You don't want to miss out again; this one's rare. A legacy silhouette. A standout look. The Air Max 95 OG Neon is the holy grail of 95 colourways.
Just like the last release in April '25, Nike's gone back to the 'Big Bubble' edition.
'And like the original, the Neon Yellow Air unit in the heel goes max volume. It brings unrivalled cushioning that's redefined comfort since it first featured on the Air Max 1 back in 1987.
'Going from black to white for that signature gradient effect, layers of mesh and synthetic leather in the upper create a street-ready look built to last.
'Extra neon hits the lace webs and rubber outsole, while retro Air Max bubble branding and Swoosh logos are embroidered.
'When the light fades, they still shine. Reflective panels on the tongue and heel pop out at night. Want your size? You'll need to be quick.'

Louis' Inside The Manosphere has been hailed 'his most chilling documentary yet' as critics have admitted that they were left 'quivering behind their sofas' by the 'horrid, yet addictive' probe into the world of alpha males.
His latest 90-minute doc was released on Netflix on Wednesday 11 March.
It follows as documentarian Louis, 55, explores how extremist influencers are manipulating young boys in society with their views, interviewing the likes of Harrison Sullivan (HSTikkyTokky), Myron Gaines and Nicolas Kenn De Balinthazy (Sneako).
'With rare access and no holds barred, the acclaimed documentarian investigates a growing ultra-masculine network and its controversial influencers,' the popular streamer's synopsis reads.
The film has largely received rave reviews from critics, who applauded the probe into the rising online movement, brought to the attention of many by hit Netflix drama Adolescence.
Sharing their thoughts on Louis's latest deep-dive documentary, concerned parents wrote on social media: 'Watching this now and I am speechless. As a mum of four boys it is terrifying,';
'Had to watch in stages as these people are beyond belief! I'd be so ashamed if I was their parent. Going to watch again with my 2 sons,';
'Fantastic work! Thank you for shedding light on a world that many parents of teen and young adult sons have been worrying about, let alone understand it.
'Watched it today, it was uncomfortable watching. Great documentary but it makes me worry about the type of world my little boy will grow up in!'; 'Just watched it. Excellent as per. Also scary as the mother of a young boy who is very kind, sensitive and gentle right now,';

'If one of my sons grew up like them I would be ashamed of them !'; 'Great doc...these boys influencing even younger boys is purely terrifying stuff. Parents, this is a must watch...and shows the reason social media should be banned for teens.'
The synopsis for Louis Theroux: Inside The Manosphere reads: 'With rare access and no holds barred, the acclaimed documentarian investigates a growing ultra-masculine network and its controversial influencers.'
The Manosphere itself refers to an online network - including forums, websites and blogs - that promote anti-feminist beliefs, masculinity and misogyny.
Louis himself sent out a warning to parents of boys following abusive run-ins while filming the documentary.
The presenter entered their world and learned how these individuals highlight their respective views on traditional gender roles and values.
At the beginning of the documentary, Louis remarks how he had noticed 'parts of the Internet were being taken over' by male influencers claiming to provide young men with 'cheat codes to win at life'.
Louis told The Mirror: 'These aren't figures on the margins - anyone who's got kids, and especially boys, will know that they are making inroads into the culture. Their influence is being felt in schools, in the workplace and all across the internet.
