was left utterly heartbroken when her beloved brother Peter suddenly died on New Year's Eve, just days before his 65th birthday - and she had no idea why.
The model was in holiday in Barbados with her good friends and Paul Cavalier when she received the call that changed her life forever.
And it wasn't until some time later that party girl and mother-of-two Lizzie, 57, discovered that Peter had suffered a cardiac arrest, leaving her terrified that the same thing could happen to her.
In an interview with Daily Mail on Wednesday, Lizzie said it her mother Gloria Miller, 91, who found Peter's body.
Lizzie said: 'I had been having a great time in Barbados and I saw I had ten missed calls from Peter's landline number. I just assumed he was ringing me to say happy new year.
'But it did cross my mind that it was a bit weird and my first thought was that something might have happened to my mother.
Lizzie Cundy has detailed learning about her brother Peter's sudden death while she was in Barbados on NYE and how she's terrified the same thing could happen to her
When Lizzie learned Peter, (pictured), had died - she fell to her knees and went into shock - her mother Gloria had found his body after he had suffered from a cardiac arrest
Lizzie was in Barbados with actress Claire Sweeney (pictured), when she heard the sad news and she is so grateful she was with her
'So I called back and my sister answered and said: "Peter's dead," I just fell to my knees. I went into shock and couldn't even register emotion. I've never experienced a feeling like it.'
'My friends didn't know what was going on and assumed something had happened to my mum.
'Thank goodness I was with them. They were amazing and looked after me but the worst thing was I wasn't with my mum so I flew home as soon as I could to be with her.
'The only comfort is that nothing could have been done to save Pete.'
Lizzie announced her brother's passing on Instagram at the time in a post that read: 'It is with a heavy heart and great sadness to tell you that my brother Peter has died. We as a family are heartbroken.
'Peter was a much loved son, brother and uncle. He worked in theatre, film, had a great love of dogs and of Chelsea FC…
'A real character and a kind soul who will be very much missed. .Can’t believe he has gone…'
Lizzie said the whole thing has made her consider her own mortality.
Lizzie said: 'My mum is really strong and I am trying to take a leaf out of her book. Peter wouldn't want us crying - he would want us laughing. I lost my spark for a bit after we lost him but now I want to grab life by the horns and make the most of every day. Life is so precious.'
She shared the sad news of her brother's death on Instagram in January
She said: 'It's no secret that I am a party girl and I love to be out late. I thought, my brother has just dropped down dead and the same thing could happen to me.
'I always thought I was invincible, but I lost my best friend Wanda when I was 26. She had cystic fibrosis so that was a shock but not unexpected.
'That same year, my dad, Derek, died and my ex-husband Jason Cundy was diagnosed with cancer. It all made me realise how important it is to live life to the fullest.'
Lizzie said her brother enjoyed life and food and while he had many girlfriends, he didn't have a wife or kids and 'men aren't always good at loooking after themselves when they live alone.'
She said: 'My dad was also fairly young when he died and I started to fear that I would be met with the same fate and I don't want to leave my boys without a mum.
'I took the Longevity test at Harley Street Skin Clinic by Dr Aamar Khan - it's a blood test which looks at your DNA and genetics as well as your lifestyle and can determine if you might have predispositions to certain illnesses such as chronic heart disease.
'I was delighted to learn that my results were all pretty good. They put you on bespoke supplements and check you every three months, ' she said.
Lizzie recalled the last time she saw her brother a few weeks before he died.
She said: 'I saw him on Christmas Day and said goodbye to him on Boxing Day. His last words to me were, "I love you, kid" and he gave me a kiss.
'I didn't expect it to be the last goodbye.
'My mum is really strong and I am trying to take a leaf out of her book. Peter wouldn't want us crying - he would want us laughing.
'I lost my spark for a bit after we lost him but now I want to grab life by the horns and make the most of every day. Life is so precious.'
