Lashana Lynch has channeled Grace Jones for her latest edgy cover photoshoot with Defined Magazine as she sported a dark short square haircut.
The Woman King actress, 36, revealed her surprising new career as she hopes to move away from serious roles in drama and action movies.
Lashana, who has previously starred in James Bond, The Marvels and The Day of the Jackal, revealed she is ‘proud’ of her previous work but is hoping to do something more ‘lighthearted’.
Lashana told Defined that she hopes to be in a comedy next, she said: ‘I would like to be funny. To be light on screen and giggle throughout the day.
‘I’ve done a lot of serious roles recently. Everything’s got me on that deep drama journey, and I’m proud of it, but I’d be interested to see what lightness does to me.’

Lashana cut an incredible cool figure as she posed in a strapless black dress with eye catching long gloves.
In a second shot she added a trendy structured blazer which she teamed with a pair of dark sunglasses.
The actress stunned as she slipped into a studded one sleeved studded dress as she posed for an eye catching black and white snap.
It comes after Lashana revealed last month that she is pregnant with her first child with husband Zackary Momoh as she debuted her baby bump at The Day Of The Jackal premiere in New York City.
The actress — who took on a leading role in the upcoming British drama series — shared her big moment as she joined some of her costars on the red carpet, including Eddie Redmayne and Ursula Corbero.
Lynch is expecting baby number one with partner, Zackary Momoh, although an exact due date has yet to be revealed.
She turned heads wearing a sleeveless, Ottolinger dress that had a shirt and tie image depicted on the upper portion.
The ensemble also contained cheetah-print details and clung to her frame as she stopped by the screening at the Walter Reade Theater.
