Another bombshell has dropped in and 's feud with Ray J, as a legal letter has emerged in which the mother-daughter duo demand an eye-watering seven-figure sum from the rapper.

Kardashian and Ray J's sex tape from her her 22nd birthday trip to Cabo San Lucas in 2002 was famously released by Vivid Entertainment in a 41-minute DVD entitled Kim Kardashian, Superstar in 2007.

While the tape cemented the Kardashian family's status as household names, it has also sparked legal drama that led to a 2023 settlement, rumored to be around $6 million to be paid to Ray J in instalments, with the last million due this year.

In May 2025, Kardashian, 45, and Jenner, 70, sent a legal letter to Ray J, 45, insisting he had violated their nondisclosure agreement (NDA) related to the settlement, and that as a result he had to return the $5 million they had paid him by that point and give them each a further $1 million, according to TMZ.

That October, Kardashian and Jenner sued Ray J for defamation over a livestream from days prior in which he accused them of being investigated for racketeering.

Ray J countersued, denying he defamed his ex and her mother and claiming their comments about the sex tape on their Hulu reality show The Kardashians constituted their own violation of the NDA from 2023.

In a newly surfaced legal letter from October 3, just after their lawsuit was filed, Kardashian and Jenner claimed Ray J had 'materially breached' the NDA by talking about the 2023 settlement on a livestream the previous day.

The letter argued that he had to 'immediately remit' the $5 million they had already paid him and give them a further $1 million 'per breach,' on top of which they were no longer obliged to pay the final $1 million instalment from the old deal.

The Daily Mail has contacted representatives for Kardashian, Jenner and Ray J for comment.

In the October letter, Ray J's counsel was warned that 'before he thinks about making further comments about Ms. Kardashian and Ms. Jenner, your client should understand that his future clout chasing comes with - at minimum- seven-figure consequences.'

Last month Kardashian and Jenner suffered a setback in their attempts to keep the details of the 2023 settlement under wraps.

The motions from Kardashian, and her mother were 'denied, except as to a bank account number in certain exhibits,' read a ruling issued by  Superior Court and reviewed by the Daily Mail in March.

A previous motion filed by Kardashian and Jenner earlier in March saw the reality stars claim that unsealing certain documents to the public 'would cause substantial harm to the [family's] privacy interests and undermine the strong public policy interest in favor of settlement agreement.'

The court clarified in its ruling from Judge Steven A. Ellis that the case was not about 'Kardashian engaging in sexual activities,' as both 'parties recognize that recording has already been the subject of public disclosure.'

'Rather, the issue is whether the settlement agreement that the parties entered into in 2023 (and documents describing certain terms of that settlement agreement) should be placed or maintained under seal.'

Kardashian and Jenner 'have presented no admissible evidence that disclosure of the settlement agreement and its terms would cause them any harm,' according to the court ruling.

The arguments the reality stars presented in their initial petition were 'too vague, speculative, amorphous, and unsupported to support the requested sealing order,'  the court ruling read.

The decision came weeks after the mother and daughter said in court filings that Ray J's prior suggestions the family schemed to put out the footage in a bid for fame amounted to 'a lie.'

Ray J's 'claim that I had a plan with my mother and others to release a sex tape, defraud the public, and to "create buzz" is a lie,' Kardashian said earlier in March.

In her declaration, she denied the suggestion she ' [her] daughter.'

Jenner said accusations she had anything to do with the tape were 'not only entirely untrue, but deeply offensive and harmful' and something which has 'haunted [her] for decades.'

Jenner said she never made her daughter 'film any sex tape or  - adding that 'in no world would I ever be involved in any way, shape or form of peddling tapes of my daughter like this.'

Kardashian, in her declaration, said that she 'incurred expenses to combat [Ray J's] lies and manage [her] well-being and reputation.

Among the costs 'included participating in therapy and working with communications, legal and strategic advisers,' Kardashian said.
