Actress Justene Alpert has revealed she suffered the loss of a pregnancy last December.

The 36-year-old star, who has appeared in shows including 9-1-1 and How I Met Your Mother, said she made the 'nightmare' decision to terminate her pregnancy after doctors detected a rare genetic disorder in her unborn baby.

She shared the devastating news in a heartbreaking Instagram post on Tuesday.

Alpert said she and husband Mason Trueblood had just started telling their loved ones they were expecting when they received the prognosis.

'The specialist spoke to us not only about our baby's condition but the high risks that I would be subjected to as a woman my age,' she wrote in part of a lengthy statement. 

The actress said she was 'sharing this for the woman who may be in the situation I was in not long ago.'

Alpert wrote, 'On December 22 my happiness was taken from me,' when she was 'pregnant and entering my first trimester.'

She added that her medical team highly recommended she end the pregnancy 'quickly,' as they feared the baby would not make it to term.

She told her followers that December 29 was the day she and her husband had to 'say goodbye to our son'

She also expressed appreciation for her 'amazing' support system.

'We are nothing without you and Mason and I are so appreciative,' she emphasized in a slide shared in the carousel post. 

And Alpert gave a special shoutout to her husband, saying she fell more in love with him through the harrowing ordeal.

'I would say I do to this man 100 times over,' she gushed after repeating the vows 'for better or for worse. In sickness and in health.'

And she ending the candid post with a message for her son, declaring, 'I loved you then, I love you now and I will love you forever.'
