He looked to be following in his dad's footsteps as the track quickly caught the attention of execs and he signed his first record deal.
However, in the months that followed, a number of delays appeared to stall the release of any further music, despite him remaining in the spotlight.
In the summer, Junior revealed he'd been quiet on the music front because he'd been busy 'overcoming a couple of challenges', but that new songs were coming 'in due time'.

And in the latest episode of his little sister Princess' ITV2 reality show, he explained that one of the obstacles he'd been tackling was the financial side of pursuing a singing career.
He revealed he'd landed a 9-5 job and also done night shifts working on the Tube in order to fund his music, insisting that he 'doesn't live off my mum and dad like people think'.
Speaking on her show, The Princess Diaries, Princess, 18, gushed over her elder brother's work ethic, saying she was proud of how hard he was working to chase his dreams and branding his songs 'genuinely so good'.
She said: ‘His last two singles went in at number one, but while he was sorting differences out with his label he went to work through the nights and work a full-time job, so he was fully self-sufficient. Which I’m super proud of.'
Chatting to his sister in the recording studio, Junior admitted: 'It's been a long time coming and it's been hard.
'You know I’ve obviously had to do nine-to-five, Monday to Friday, I've done night shifts because you have to actually pay to do music. People don't really know that. And I live off myself, I don't live off mum and dad like people think that we do.'
Speaking to the camera he insisted: 'I've really learned that I've got to work for what I want. It's not just going to be handed to me.
'I found a night job basically just working on the London underground, grafting, lifting heavy metals, cutting, filing, painting. I got them jobs so I could do my music career, so I could fund it.’

'When I do achieve what I set out to achieve, I'm gonna be so grateful because I know I worked so hard for it,' he added.
While the two siblings both shared their dislike of the 'nepo baby' label, as they declared they had 'our own talents'.
Princess said: 'It really annoys me when people are like, "Oh, you're only where you are because of your parents".'
'Yeah and people say nepo babies, but I'm doing what I love and what I'm inspired to do. And it's great that my dad was part of that,' Junior replied. 'My love for music is intense; I love performing just like my dad.'
Princess added: 'People say that but people don't know that you worked a 9 to 5 job. Do you know what I mean?
'Like we can both appreciate the fact we've been brought up with a lot of privileges. But the thing is now, we're going our own ways, we've got our own talents that we're doing.'
And it seems that as well as his music, Junior is also hoping to break into the TV and film industry, after signing up to his dad Peter's acting agency, Ignite Elite Artists, back in October.
Speaking on her show, The Princess Diaries, Princess, 18, gushed over her elder brother's work ethic, saying she was proud of how hard he was working to chase his dreams and branding his songs 'genuinely so good'
And last week it was revealed he has joined Peter in the cast of new film, Finding My Voice, set to be released March 28.
He will also be starring opposite star Michelle Ryan, who plays Zoe Slater on the One soap, Kierston Wareing and 'Allo 'Allo! actress Vicki Michelle.
The film follows the character Melanie (played by Anais Garness) who is a budding singer-songwriter, but is torn when her family is broken up and it's up to her to decide whether music is for her or not.
The movie's Instagram account shared the news of Junior's role in the film as they introduced his character Johnny.
Alongside stills of him in the film wearing a school uniform and interacting with his fellow co-stars, the caption read: 'Johnny is Mel's school friend and one of the few people who's always there when she needs someone to believe in her.'
Peter flocked to the comments section to show his pride for his eldest child as he gushed: 'Yea my son,' with flame emojis.
The Mysterious Girl hitmaker has acted several times previously, starring in controversial film On The Other Foot in 2021.
