Jeff Goldblums Awkward Airport Encounter in Sydney

Jeff Goldblum got more than he bargained for when he arrived in over the weekend.  

The Jurassic Park star, 73, is currently in Australia for a five-city tour with his band Jeff Goldblum & The Mildred Snitzer Orchestra.

He touched down in Sydney on Sunday ahead of his performance at the Opera House on Tuesday night, and was quickly set upon by an overzealous fan.

Nedal Lakmas was clearly chuffed to be in the presence of the Independence Day actor, and proceeded to grab Jeff around the waist as the pair posed for photos.

As Nedal reached in for the hug, Jeff quickly pulled away. 

People who were accompanying the celebrity scout could be heard off-camera telling him not to touch the Hollywood star. 

'Don't touch him, Nedal. You can't touch him,' they could be heard saying. 

Jeff handled the encounter with grace, telling Nedal: 'I'll be your protector,' before posing for a happy snap.

Nedal apologised to the star for his forward greeting as he stood with his hands firmly by his sides.

Meanwhile, Jeff cut quite the cool figure, stepping off his flight in a black leather jacket that he wore with a pair of matching chinos.       

It's not the first time that the fan has been at the centre of awkward interactions with celebrities.

Nedal hit the headlines after he allegedly groped Modern Family actress Sarah Hyland during her visit to Sydney back in 2014.

He was charged with indecent assault after the encounter, which happened at a party held in the Modern Family cast's honour at the Sebel Pier One. 

After Nedal apparently touched the 24-year-old television star, she reportedly fled the scene in tears.
