Hollywood Reacts to Harry Styles Sexuality Rumors

He's bedded some of the most beautiful women in the world, but for gender-bending Harry Styles – in his trademark dresses and avant-garde outfits – such an enviable dating history has done little to hush persistent murmurs about his sexuality.

Perhaps it's his preened and polished good looks. Perhaps it's because, in his 32 years, the boyband phenom never once showed sign of transitioning his famous girlfriends to the role of fiancée.

That was until his latest romance. 

For the pop star, 32, is said to now be engaged to actress , 37, after just eight months of dating. She's been seen lugging around a  to show for it and sources say it's all happy as Harry.

So has all the gossip been misguided hearsay?

'He's dated the likes of , and . However, rumors about his sexuality have been circulating almost since he became 's heartthrob 15 years ago,' an insider told the Daily Mail.

'The engagement was a shock to a lot of people. It showed Harry could finally make a commitment. And one to a strong woman like Zoe. He believes that may end the gay rumors. But the "fluid" whispers remain. And Harry loves keeping people guessing.'

Indeed, Style's apparent sexual 'ambiguity' over the years has done much to bolster his pop image as a David Bowie 2.0, in his sequined jumpsuits and flamboyant blouses. 

Most vociferous in their opinions have always been the 'Larries' – fans who believe Styles has long been in a secret romance with his former One Direction bandmate Louis Tomlinson. 

The two boys are often referred to in breathless fan fiction as 'Larry Stylinson', a portmanteau of their names.

So-called evidence for their relationship stems back to their interactions on The X Factor – the reality talent show that cobbled the boy band together and propelled them to fame back in 2010 – including one TV clip that sees Styles admitting that his 'first real crush was Louis.'

The theory has, at times, irritated Tomlinson, who onces described it as 'the biggest load of bull***t.' 

In a 2024 he also admitted that the speculation surrounding does 'irritate' him but admitted there is 'nothing I can do' to stop it.

Styles' apparent refusal to define his sexuality has also provided ample fodder for those convinced he isn't straight. In 2013 he told British GQ magazine that he was 'pretty sure' he is not bisexual.

The release of his 2018 record Medicine didn't help, with some fans branding it a 'coming out' song. 

'The boys and girls are here, I mess around with them, and I'm okay with it,' Styles sings.

On the cover of American Vogue in December 2020, Styles wore a skirt. And the year prior, he had co-hosted the Met Gala, the theme for which was 'Notes on Camp'. Style opted for a nipple freeing sheer black blouse with a singular pearl drop earring for the event.

Another insider added: 'If people consider him gay now or in the past, so be it. He's with Zoë now and he looks to be with her forever'
